Guy I have some guys who want to enter that tournament. I have a question, usgrappling seems to have a different definition of the divisons (no-gi)(novice/beginner/inter/adv) than is on your site (now dont blame me for this, this is a couple students confusion) but could you link me to the rules/different divisons? That would clarify for some of them where they compete and exactly what rules they will be under.

No problem Brandon. I'm going to post the info below. For the most part we have rules, divisions, etc. almost identical to US Grappling. However, until we reach a higher number of competitors (I'd say 150 or more) we have decided to stick with three experience levels. Once we're hitting higher numbers with pariticipants we'll probably go up to the four experience levels (then hopefully we'll still be able to fill up most of the divisions).
Info listed on our website www.gpfoundation.us under the "rules/divisions" tab is the accurate information. Let me know if you need any specific questions answered.

No Gi Skill Level Definitions
Beginners: Less than 1 year of training any grappling art.
Intermediate: Between 1-3 years training any grappling art, or blue belt.
Advanced: Over 3 years training any grappling art, or purple belt and above.
Length of Matches
(No Gi)
Mens/Womens Divisions
Beginner 5 minutes
Intermediate 6 minutes
Advance 7 minutes
Absolute 5minutes
Masters 5 minute
Kids/Teens 4 minutes
Weight Divisions

Mens Adult Grappling Divisions
FeatherWeight 149.9 and Under
LightWeight 150-159.9 lbs
WelterWeight 160-169.9 lbs
MiddleWeight 170-179.9 lbs
CruiserWeight 180-189.9 lbs
Light HeavyWeight 190-204.9 lbs
HeavyWeight 205-219.9 lbs
Super HeavyWeight 220 and up

Senior Divisions
(Ages 30 and up)
Lightweight 159.9 and under
WelterWeight 160-184.9 lbs
MiddleWeight 185- 199.9 lbs
HeavyWeight 201 and over

Additional No-Gi Rules
1. No Advantages will be used in regulation time, will be used in over time. Overtime matches will last for three minutes.
2. Cannot grab opponents shirt or shorts.
3. Uniforms, Gis, or Kimonos are optional for submission grappling divisions; Mouthpiece and groin protection are recommended.
4. Can opener technique will be allowed as long as the individual releases the head as soon as the guard opens. The can opener technique can not be used as a method to submit the opponent except for in the advance divisions.

Illegal No-Gi Techniques
Advanced —All submissions are Legal
Intermediate —No Heel Hooks, twisting leg locks, flying scissor takedown, or Neck Cranks
Beginner — No Heel Hooks, twisting leg locks, Kneebars, flying scissor takedown, or Neck Cranks
Teen, Kids Divisions—No Leg Locks, flying scissor takedown, No Neck Cranks
