Yeah, I think Hicks has learned his lesson to an extent, but Powell has been decent most of the time, and Park won't look as bad once they don't give him his bonus, hell, he may even leave after 1 year, either way, I think it will take another 2 years before you can label Park a bust with any degree of fairness. As for A-Rod's deal, I'm not going to get into the whole Jeter- A-Rod thing again, but Jeter didn't exactly sign for peanuts, he got 190 million, and since he signed his deal lastseason, he and A-Rod have exactly the same number of WS rings, and A-Rod has become the premiere player in the game in all facets. Also look at Giambi, Manny Ramirez, Carlos Delgado( 3 year, 51 mill), and when you account bang for buck, A-Rod and maybe Giambi are the only 2 really earning their loot. Personally, I'm all for a cap, and I think most owners are, but what I find most amusing about all of the pot shots taken at Hicks by he media is simply this : let the Yankees not win the series for another 2 years, and then come back and listen to Georgie's opinion on salary caps. They always say great teams or franchises like the Yankees, Florida State, Duke, etc don't rebuild, they reload, but ask yourself this: what happens if a system comes into place where a Toronto doesn't have to give up Mondesi, or Detroit part with Weaver or Cleveland and Colon, or KC and all they've lost, or Montreal's All Star list, because suddenly EVERY team is equal in a financial sense. No, you shouldn't be penalized for being successful as some teams are, but you also shouldn't be allowed to hold an entire league hostage because you have more money, or in a lot of cases, more free money. Just my thoughts.
