Personally, I like Witasick and think the Yanks should stick with him awhile, especially since they are still obviously lacking a right-handed set up man. Although he started out with the Yanks on very shaky ground, he managed to close out the year in good fashion and put together a scoreless streak of about 9 innings covering about 10 appearances. The main weakness I can see with him is he sometimes becomes "wild in the strike zone", getting too much of the plate. This happens when his fastball loses its "late movement." I'm no expert, but that sounds like mechanics to me. The guy seems to have a very live arm and as long as he gets ahead in the count, his split finger can put most hitters away.
I think you're right about Hitchcock. He just needs more time to recover from his arm surgery and I think the Yanks should definitely count on him to be a #4 or #5 starter,
although his velocity must improve.
I hated to hear that they gave up Jimenez. I think he will be a fine player and a mainstay in any lineup for years to come.
