The mood here is this large wave of disinterest, JP. Most people agree with you. No risk. He can be as much of a bad apple as he wants to, but he isn't the #2 pick in the draft coming to a team of mostly inconsequential and largly worthless offensive players. This is a twice cut spare joining an offense that has Emmitt Smith, Joey Galloway and Larry Allen in it. So he can run his mouth as much as he wants to, but who will people listen to? Him or a future hall of famer (Smith and Allen) or pro-bowler (Galloway). Also, he isn't coming in to be the savior of the franchise, he is coming to back up 2 guys who couldn't start for any team in football except maybe Detroit.
I hope he turns out well and developes into the next TroyBoy and if he doesn't, then it isn't salary cap suicide to shitcan him. Early indications are that he will be OK here, he seems sufficiently humbled and joked about how his career hasn't gone as he wanted it to.
His wrist is a worry though. It sounds like it is gonna be like a guy with a shoulder that slips out of socket every once in a while. Only it will be in his wrist. I am not sure if it is harder to pop that back into place. It is said to be something he will have to deal with for the rest of his career, Dr's fear that surgery would limit the mobility in the wrist, and he won't be able to throw as he could before. So in other words, he would end up being Quincey Carter without the moves and speed.
