there was absolutely *NO* family connection to North Carolina and it was one of those random bits of inaccurate information just thrown in to totally confuse the viewers. There was some speculation that maybe his mother was originally from there, and had only moved North because of his father's business interests, but if she considered that to be her "home" wouldn't she have moved back after the divorce or at least when she retired??
