I wrote a prologue for my story, i think it fits in well. And i have really been getting into the story now. More chapters soon.

Mighty waves of icy blue water crashed against the cliffs. Their endless bombardment, a storm of thunderous bangs. A magnificent castle hung precariously over the edge; it had for countless years. The proud castle standing alone on the gentle windswept hills. There were mountains in the distance, huge gray peaks stretching for the heavens. The peace broken by the scream of a woman.

‘You’re all right milady.’ A chubby nurse spoke franticly. ‘I can see him now. Here he comes. Just a little more.’

The woman screamed again.

‘Here I got him, wait there’s another one. Another one milady!’ The woman didn’t seem to notice.

‘You’ve got twins!’ The nurse wrapped the first of the babies in a warm towel and handed him to another nurse. She turned for the other newborn, and again the woman screamed. Only this time a torrent of blood and fluid accompanied it. ‘Dear me! The chubby nurse fumbled as she wrapped the other baby. ‘Kay, I need more towels! She’s bleeding!’ A younger nurse rushed from the room. The woman began to fade as the older nurse fumbled. ‘Beth…’ she mumbled.

‘Milady?’

‘Name them… Sondare… and Jarred.’

Beth nodded as tears welled in her eyes, ‘It will be done milady.’

The woman smiled gently as she died. As Beth covered the woman’s face she heard a noise that made her blood curdle. A scream.

Beth and all the other nurses, nearly all still girls, looked up as one. ‘Kay!’ one of the girls yelled as she rushed for the door. Beth stopped her. ‘It’s too late,’ she whispered, stunned. Beth looked around at the bland room. ‘Oh not now, please not now’ she muttered as she came to her senses. ‘Shut the door girls, hurry!’ she yelled. A young nurse slammed the thick door, but a she did another girl rushed in. She was bloodied, and mad with fear, blabbering as she fell to Beth’s feet. The wounded girl, no older than sixteen. ‘Lock it.’ Beth commanded as noises were heard. The girl slammed the massive bolt shut. ‘Now girls, get everything in here and block the door. And for goodness sake hurry. At once all the young nurses began sliding chests and shelves in front of the door. Beth watched for a second, then turned to the silent babies. She gathered them in her meaty arms and walked over to the magnificent glass doors that led to the balcony. She threw them open, and was blasted by a fierce wind. Beth stepped out onto the balcony, and walked to the edge. She looked down; Waves, massive waves crashing onto the cliffs far below. Her heart sank as spray kissed her face. She looked left; nothing but the curved stone wall of the castle. Right; still noting. ‘I’m sorry,’ she whispered to the babies. ‘please, Vinsen, where are you?’ She looked back in the room as thunder cracked above, releasing a torrent of water.

The girls had thrown almost everything in the room in front of the door. And now one brave girl had picked up a poker from the dormant fireplace and held it like a club. Beth’s heart sank even lower, at the though of these poor young ones. There was a bang on the door. The wood at the exposed to of the door began to splinter, and crack. Beth knew it would not hold, she begged Vinsen to arrive. ‘get behind me girls, quickly now!’ The girls obeyed. The door and barricade began to slide forward, and eventually the futile blockade crashed down. Four attackers swept inside.

The assailants came forward, moving like cats, slowly stalking. Beth dared herself to look into their shimmering eyes. She did. Those wispy eyes held such torment, the chubby nurse could not hold the gaze. She, and the girls stepped forward, closer to the edge. ‘Be brave girls.’

The attackers were ready to pounce, but then there came a clatter from outside the room. Men rushed in, their blades glinting in the pale light. Beth reeled, shocked. The attackers looked behind them, and Beth risked another glance into the eyes. They had changed. As the knights moved, the attackers ran out onto the balcony, Beth prepared herself. But instead of the cold bite of blade she felt the attackers rush past her and the girls. They ran to the edge and leapt off, to their deaths in the violent water below.
