Subject: If American Palestinians Had As Much Money We'd Be Supporting Them

I am sick of our support for Israel as the beackon of democratic hope in the Middle East. They are as responsible for continuing conflict and American resentment in the region as anyone else is. If the American Jews did not have so much political, media, and financial influence as they do, we would not support them as strongly.

The fact of the matter is that Israel has not taken as many neccesary steps as an advanced democratic nation should to preserve the livelihood of innocent Palestinian civilians. Their formally official, and now unoffical policy, is to continue punishing the innocent by bulldozing their homes and hoping they will encourage extremnists in their neighborhood to stop suicide bombings in Israel. We presently see the same tactics against "soft targets" being used by groups that we describe as being terroristic in Iraq as they have begun using civilian targets to try and motivate an insurgency.

Israel is no different than the remnants of the Iraqi regime that we seek to eliminate by any means neccesary. They have repeatedly broken cease fires by seeing the as opportunities to eliminate major Palestinian targets (who let down their guard as a result of improved relations, such as we saw with the attacking of Arafat's compund during one ceasefire) and then are bombed by suicide bombers and blame the Palestinians for what has occured. How absurd!

And in terms of the method of fighting, I am sure that if we had provided Palesitine with the same military technology we provided Israel that their would be a far fairer battle. The fact of the matter is that Palestinian liberationalists are forced to use unethical means of fighting to retaliate against a much larger and more powerful army than their own. This is not all that much different than the way that we fought during the Revolutionary War when our out numbered and out gunned army abandoned conventional war ethics by instituting gureilla tactics in order that we may gain freedom.

If Bush promises to rid the world or terrorism and hatred towards innocent Americans wherever it lies he must condemn and withdrawl his contradictory support for nations like Israel who are more trouble than they are worth. Let them fight their own battle. If they didn't have us there to clean up after them...perhaps then they would start the process of respectable diplomacy.
