The people are getting dumber!

Ever see a movie called "The Court Jester"? It's a Danny Kay movie.

It was intended for children. Like, little children.

The kind who now watch "The Powerpuff Girls"

"Alice in Wonderland", the book, THE BOOK!! I know you've all seen the Disney-fied version, but I mean the damn book, ok?

That was for KIDS! So was the original BOOK "Mary Popins".

Hell, so was "The Secret Garden."

These were all childrens books, guys!!!

And now what do we give them? Look in the bookstores sometimes. I mean, other than "Harry Potter", which they are trying SO HARD to ban, they're all insipid. And stupid.

The writing is three years below the supposed reading level of the audience. It's supposed to be the OTHER DAMN WAY AROUND! You write a littel above their level. How the hell are they expected to get BETTER otherwise?

The movies are dumb, and getting even dumber. And we've got a whole generation raised on them, so now the "grown-up" movies are what CHILDREN were watching forty years ago. I mean, "Never been kissed"??? "Dumb and Dumber"?? "There's somthing about Mary"??

These are all stupid, stupid, obvious movies, and the public eats them up. Why? Because they aren't capable of understanding anything more complicated. Even the "deep" movies are obvious. I cite as an example "American Beauty".

If you sit these people down in front of, say, "The Philedelphia Story", they won't be able to follow the story.

I know. I've tried. It's really, really depressing watching them scramble to understand.

And it's getitng worse. Now, these people are TEACHING us!! I had a history teacher in high school who'd never seen "The Lion In Winter."

If you don't know what that is, GO RENT IT! And shame on you.

Ok, stopping now.

Sorry...I guess we all have our soapboxes.
