The experience of living in a uniform is one that must be lived to be understood. These issues and differences of perception and expectation are running through many current problems invloving police.

There is not an easy answer, unless I can quote from Aretha Franklin "Respect" (at least I think it was Aretha Franklin). Of course her intent was different, but the message could solve many social ills.
