Central Maryland’s Junior Miss announces its first talent showcase. Anyone with a talent to share is invited to compete for prizes in our event. Participants will have 3 minutes to perform and impress our judges with their talent. Then they will be judged and the winner will receive a prize. There will also be a prize for the person who brings the most guests. The participant fee is $10 for an individual and $20 for a group of 3 or more, payable in advance. Call 443.413.2997 and leave a message or register online at www.centralmarylandsjuniormiss.info. Tickets are $ 5 in advance and $10 at the door. The talent showcase will be held at Annapolis Friends Meeting House, 351 DuBois Road, Annapolis, MD 21401 on Friday January 16, 2009. Show starts at 7:30 PM. Talent must arrive by 7:00 PM. All proceeds benefit Central Maryland’s Junior Miss Scholarship.

I AM WRITING BECAUSE MY BOYFRIEND AND MY FIRST ANNIVERSARY IS TOMORROW. WE ARE HAVING A LOT OF PROBLEMS THAT BEGAN WITH HIS PARENTS JUDGING ME BASED ON A RELATIVE BEING INCARCERATED. I HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT BUT FROM THAT POINT ON HIS MOM HAS BEEN VERY UNPLEASANT. THEY BASICALLY DISOWN HIM UNLESS WE HAVE PROBLEMS AND HE GOES BACK HOME FOR A VISIT AND OF COURSE HE HEARS THEIR OPINIOIN ON OUR RELATIONSHIP. OUR FIRST HOLIDAYS WERE SPLIT AND I APPORVED FOR HIS SAKE. IT HURT BUT I DIDN'T WANT HIM TO BE WITHOUT THEM DESPITE THEIR NEGATIVE FEELINGS AND FREEDOM TO EXPRESS THAT.
WE HAVE HAD A DISPUTE AND WE BOTH FACED ASSAULT CHARGES BUT IT WASN'T WHAT IT SEEMED. I LOVED HIM SO MUCH BUT WE WERE RAISED DIFFERENTLY MY PARENTS WERE ATTENTIVE AND MY DAD WAS LOVING HIS WERE OPPOSITE. WE BOTH GOT A DISCILPLINED BADLY FOR NO REASONS. HE WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AND BECAME A PARAPALEGIC AND I DON'T SEE HIM NO DIFFERENTLY. I DO EVERYTHING I CAN TO MAKE THINGS EASIER FOR HIM AND I FEEL UNAPPRECIATED. WHEN WE ARGUE HE MAKES ME FEEL SO BAD AND AS IF I AM DISPOSABLE. HE ALWAYS TELLS ME HE DOESNT WANT TO BE WITH ME BUT HE CHANGES HIS MIND. WE BOTH SEEK COUSELING TO DEAL WITH THINGS AND HE HAS SUICIDAL THOUGHTS ALWAYS HAS SINCE HIS ACCIDENT.WE HAVEN'T HAD COUPLES COUNSELING THOUGH. WE BOTH REQUIRE MEDS TO HELP MAINTAIN OUR EMOTIONS BUT NEITHER ONE OF US TAKE OR BEEN GIVEN THE MEDS YET.
HE NEVER HAD A RELATIONSHIP AND FOCUSES ON HIMSELF A LOT AND WHAT HE WANTS. MY KIDS AND I MOVED HERE TO BE WITH HIM AND WE CONSIDER HIM FAMILY BUT I DON'T FEEL HE FEELS THE SAME. EVERYTIME HE TELLS ME HE'S SO IN LOVE WITH ME WE END UP FIGHTING A DAY LATER OVER NONSENSE AND HE SAYS HARSH THINGS AND SO DO I AND AFTER A GOOD CRY WE WORK PAST IT TIME AFTER TIME. HE SAYS HE CAN'T DO IT ANYMORE AND HE'S JEPORADIZING MY JOB NOW AND MY KIDS HAPPINESS. WE MADE IT THROUGH SO MUCH AND WE WERE ENGAED FOR A WHILE AND IT CAME UP AGAIN RECENTLY. WHEN THINGS ARE GOOD THEY ARE UNBELIEVABLE BUT WHEN SOMETHING GOES WRONG WITH HIM WHETHER IT'S FINANCIAL, WORK, HIS FAMILY, BILLS I AM HIS KICKING BAG. I TAKE ALOT AND MOVE ON BUT WHEN I CALL HIM A NAME OUT OF ANGER HE BLOWS IT OUT IF PROPORTION AND WANTS OUT AND DOESN'T CARE TWO DAYS LATER WE ARE BACK TO BEING HAPPY. I WOULD LIKE FOR US TO GET PAST THIS AND COMMUNICATE ABOUT HOW WE FEEL BUT IT DOESN'T HAPPEN OFTEN. I WOULD LIKE TO SAVE OUR RELATIONSHIP OR FIND A NEUTRAL GROUND. Hello! Seems everywhere you turn these days, there are many requests for help coming from those who want to help those affected by the Hurricane, appropriately so. If, in addition to assisting major organizations like American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, Salvation Army, etc, you would still like to help someone out... or... still looking for who you want to assist, please read on.
In the small working-class community known as the Back Bay area, among the many buildings that took on water from the wind-driven storm surge was a little school called Sacred Heart Elementary. Eight feet of water and wind caused the school to take on major damage. But the school held on. A large portion of the D'Iberville area was left devastated. Despite the building standing through the hurricane, the school lost everything. Books are strewn all throughout the muck, as are their supplies and teaching materials.
It is admirable and wonderful that schools are accepting the children who were unable to attend school because of the devastation of the hurricane. Understandably, though, there are still many awaiting the openings of their schools because they don't want to start over somewhere new. Or, don't have that opportunity. One of the most important things that we can do is move on with our lives. Help others as we can, rebuild, start new dreams and new hopes for the future. Our school wants to open on October 3rd.
Can you help in one of many ways while the families concentrate on their homes and replacing what they lost? We can concentrate on what they cannot: getting those schools open.
Monetary contributions made out to and sent directly to the school is one way, and of course, the quickest.
Another is to add the school as your recipient from your Target Red Card purchases, where the school will get 1% of what you spend at Target and 1/2% of what you spend elsewhere on your Target Visa card. (The other card is the store's card, the Target Guest Card). Please see Target.com.
You can also participate in helping by saving (and then sending to them) the boxtops and labels for education from many of the products that you buy and use everyday.

In the Baltimore Sun today, 1/14, the city of Westminster Maryland has denied a zoning permit for a methadone clinic treatment center. Initially, the city issued approval for the drug treatment facility but later retracted claiming that the original evaluation was incorrect. Yet again we see that it's all talk and no action. Is there or isn't there a substance abuse and heroin problem in Carroll County and Westminster? Is there documentation present to indicate that drug overdoses, heroin addiction and criminal activity is on the rise in our community?
So once again it appears that there are other motives at work and unwillingness to recognize in the face of hard cold facts that this treatment facility is desperately needed and there probably was no valid reason for the city to take opposition and deny a zoning permit for this facility.
And, business owners and city residents don't want this "type" of facility located near them. Why? What do you fear?
This treatment facility will help addicts deal with their "disease" and make it less likely that they might commit criminal acts, theft, etc. in this community.
City of Westminster, politicians, citizens, business owners, health advocates; the time has come for all of us to make good on our talk to help this community by helping the individuals and families who are struggling with drug addiction. Let's say Yes to this treatment facility and do something that will make a difference!

I just got a letter from Adelphia that told me my cable service was modified to a new plan and oh by the way there's an increase of $7+ per month. Even better, I'm not getting anything extra or new for the extra seven dollars per month.
It was a nice letter that clearly tried to deceive. They talked about these neat value paks and customer service. Yeah right.
And, we know Adelphia is not paying the required franchise fee back to Carroll County.
I think it is quite obvious that they DO NOT care about their customers. Cable rate increases by Adelphia have come yearly and we don't get anything back.
It's time for Carroll County to dump Adelphia.

I am a Westminster resident, and as an auto mechanic, my schedule is very unpredictable. I can't join any basketball leagues because of this, I can't consistantly make games and/or practices. Where in Carroll County, preferably Wesminster, can I find a good open gym? I joined the YMCA on rt-32 here in Westminster, but the gym is VERY small, and frequently occupied w/ activitys other than basketball. PLEASE HELP!
