Thanks for agreeing. It always seems as if I'm arguing alone. It's a tough issue with Saddam, in my opinion, we should take him out and disseminate the land and people to the surrounding nations such as Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. The Arab league is very touchy about the subject of democracy or Western influences in their nations. However, i don't think they'd oppose the US taking him out and then ruling the land themselves. As for an assassination squad, it wouldn't be easy seeing how that guy wears even a bulletproof hat and has chemical tests of his food before he eats. At the moment, if he were to die, his son, I believe Qusay would take his place and this guy is smarter and almost as bad as his father.
I'll admit the US has made mistakes before such as Afghanistan but I think it will benefit us in the long run with Hamid Karzai running the place. He's definitely interested in making that country a better place with Western influence. So while we make our mistakes, sometimes they turn out for the better. But that's still to be seen.
Your idea of a coalition sounds good, but in all likelyhood, it's nearly impossible. The belief systems of the US and that of the Arab world differ so much. Also the human nature to not trust others play against it all. Working with Saddam, impossible. He's too arrogant and will not cooperate as seen from his actions in the past few years. As for turning the population of Iraq against Saddam, you're only asking for a massacre. He will undoubtedly slaughter millions to hold his power. There is no one and no leadership that will stand against Saddam in his own nation. Anyone that could have possibly challenged him...they're dead.
This world is definitely going to rapidly changing in the years to come. It's going to be interesting being a part of it.
To answer your question, yes it is possible for us to take Saddam out. That won't solve the problem though. We need to eliminate all his progeny as well as his staff. Only by destroying that generational mindset can we be free to create a more free state. Delta, SF, Rangers, Seals, PJs, Force Recon, as well as for Special Operators have the capability to locate and destroy this guy or at least take him out of power. I understand your skepticism but there's much you don't understand about intelligence and the military. The NSA tracks EVERY piece of electronic communication. The most likely reason why they can't locate bin Laden right now is because he's either dead or communicating by word of mouth. We were bombing the living hell out of him and his associates because they could track the electronic signals, but if they don't, it's not so easy to find them. However, without the use of radios and telecommunications, his network is useless. The same would work for Saddam. Even if we are unable to kill him and instead put him into hiding, we would technically overthrow him because he would no longer be able to command his troops. Make sense? Gotta go...but I'll write more later.
