Subject: Venezuela in the news again....

Okay, here an update on Mr. Chavez struggle to keep his job after he obviously made Powell his personal enemy.
As the New York Times reports today a Venezuelan Navy vice admral, Carlos Molina Tamayo, requested and demanded that President Hugo Chavez resigns. The admiral is Venezuela's ambassador-designate to Greece.
Apparently he's not the only military brass that is complaining and wants Chavez to resign. Unfortunately this kind of bossing around by the military gets a lot of support and as the article mentions, thousands of people spontaneously joined anti-Chavez protests in the streets of Caracas.
What are you guys thinking about that? Is this another one of those sad South American stories? Am I going to read about a junta or a takeover in a few days? It's amazing to me how three persons so far, a vice admiral, an air force colonel and a national guard captain can rally so much support against Chavez. Maybe I don't know enough about Chavez's background. Maybe he's not a good president but afterall they (people of Venezuela) should rather vote for change and not change leaderhip and government on the streets and with the help of military leaders. Just a thought....
