brier watched alorwyn and the prince for a bit, smiled, and kept exploring. suddenly, a shriek that was audible throughout the whole room came from a food table's general direction. a fat woman, very well dressed, screamed again, pointing at an orange bowl, and people backed away. there was a clatter, oranges went everywhere, and and a small brown creature resembling a ferret, leapt out of the bowl and zoomed across the floor. a few more people screamed and spilled wine.
