[as you make entries in this thread, please use good subject lines!]

I will start this discussion with the mention of what I believe is a REAL dog.

This scenario has a great deal of promise, particularly because it is fun to contemplate German set ups. But then you get to the two real big problems.

First is the Victory Condition. From my gamer's perspective it is extremely unsatisfactory to actually play a scenario that has its end determined by an extra "morale check roll!" Sure, the Germans can try to cause the American casualties, but the game can be over very quickly just by a poor roll on this MC. Yes, very realistic, but also extremely unsatisfying from a gaming perspective.

Then there is the second. Reading one's history it is possible to learn that usual tactics in a prepared defense would include a partially mobile force outside of fixed emplacements, so that the defense can react to the attack. The defensive OOB for this scenario certainly doesn't encourage THAT approach. And even worse, it permits a very ahistorical deployment ... a circle of "bunkers" deployed so that their covered arcs are all facing each other. Yes, it does help the defense a bit and yes, it was never done ... probably because of the chance that outgoing bunker fire would be likely to be mistakenly directed into the facing bunkers!

Oh well ...

I'm still working on the last TTS scenario, Zeta (Hitting the Wall), which I hope will serve as a cool scenario with bunkers and fortifications, that is also challenging and fun to actually PLAY. Initial input seems to look good ... :-)
