Heh heh ... well, we can certainly try to mention topics here that might help BOTH sides. Maybe that would be fair? :-)

Note that the play of variants (like my Aachen Redoubt) can change the situation, but i7 gains a very great benefit from its initial distance from the Guard squads and the value of its -2 leader.

Right. Which only reinforces the issues of providing mutual support for each building, especially those that are in danger of an enemy entrance.

Many "Guards Counterattack" games won by the Germans are won because the Germans were able to counterattack into building m5, making up for the loss of two buildings to the Guards. Building m5 can rapidly become a Russian liability because its 447s supported by an 8-0 leader are weak, at best. If too many squads become broken ... it can seem like an eon trying to rally them, and there is no effective support available from the center or the Guard squads, unless the Russians have already taken building k5 in strength.

I wouldn't say inevitable. But it will invariably come down to the effectiveness of German firepower. Which means that the Germans have to concentrate in high-powered attacks, hopefully ones that are almost assured of some sort of MC result on the IFT. Note that you can still "miss" on a 36ift+3 by rolling a 12!

OTOH, if building f5 falls too early, it will become very difficult for the Germans to keep the Russians out of buildings i7 and/or k5, and if both i7 and k5 are lost after the loss of building f5, there is almost no way for the Germans to prevent a Russian victory based on building capture.
