Wonder Boys Review

I want to lick every inch of Katie Holmes body slowly and lovingly with my tongue.

Now that we got that out of the way I guess we can start on the review of the film she also happens to be in.

Curtis Hansen and Scott Rudin have put together a beautiful film about life and it's choices. It's a testament to these gentlemen and their cast that everything seems natural.

Michael Douglas gives a beautiful performance at what should be a stereotype but his understated acting means that the thought never crosses your mind. He plays a rumpled College English professor, named Tripp, whose award winning novel is several years behind him and his current novel taking up several draws of a filing cabinet. Into the mix is thrown the lives of two of his students. One a social outcast brought to life by Tobey Maguire and the other a lodger played by the previously mentioned Ms. Holmes. With the college hosting an annual literary event Tripp is beset upon by his Editor, Robert Downy Jr. who made the film between stays in rehab and prison, a popular author called Q, Rip Torn, the school's chancellor, Frances Mcdormand. From here things set on their merry way. A way which is always beautifully shot.

I want to keep this under 400 words so now might be time to get to the point. Those who fear a film by the guys who made the Aussie film L.A. Confidential shouldn't be put off. This film is miles away in subject matter but does share a likeness in production. Everything is just like it seems in the parent novel and brought to life on the screen with dignity and respect. About the only complaint is the sudden vanishing act that befalls a character. It's a mystery where they go and since the character made such an entrance it would have been nice to have seen how they left.

This is, and it's going to sound pathetic, a really nice film and well worth the almost fifteen bucks you have to put down for a cinema ticket these days. Take your current love interest, your family or a good friend.
