The Good, The Bad and The Ugly #54

THE GOOD

Sterling Mortlock - Kicking an impossible field goal through the uprights and winning the Australian Rugby Union team the only piece of silver they could possibly win the Tri-Nations Trophy. We now own all the crockery possible. Well don Ster………nah who are we kidding, we still haven't forgiven the bastard for losing the Super 12 Trophy for Canberra all those months back. Bitter and twisted? You better believe it.

The Essendon Bombers - They won the AFL Grand Final yesterday by 60 points and only lost one game all season. If that isn't "good" then it has to be bloody amazing.

www.nick.com - They have a Rugrats game. 'nuff said.

www.funlinked.com/critter/johnny.html - When he grows up head GBU HQ staffer is gonna be something like Johnny Bravo and Elvis Cole. You got warned here first.

Odyssey Number 5 - New Powderfinger album out on Friday. Buy it.

www.microsoft.com/reader - We hate Bill Gates at GBU HQ. We refer to him regularly as the anti-christ, but only because we use too much of his technology and he possibly has more cash than actually will ever exist as hard currency. However, do go and download reader from the site then go to the Get Books link and then go and download a free copy of the Encarta Pocket World Dictionary then have a poke around the U of Virginia eText centre.

Kate Carnell's impression of a rabbit caught in the headlights - Spot on after she was questioned by Journalists over the failing of the Bruce Stadium resurfacing to a test by Olympic Soccer officials. It is now being done for a third time at tax payer expense.

THE BAD

www.brooklynbizarro.com - It's sick. Which is why we like it. Oh and yes that is the new Editor-In-Chief of Marvel Comics on the front page there. About time they got someone like him in charge of the party.

The Screaming Jets - Tacky eighties Australian rock band they may be but I think they did all of the nation proud when they managed to delay the Impulse Airlines maiden flight from Brisbane on Monday. The gentlemen were thrown off the aircraft for being drunk and disorderly. The flight was due to leave at 10 am but didn't get off the ground till 11am. Despite numerous reports of the existence of a GBU HQ staffer at the incident GBU HQ is delivering a solid "no comment".

Nick Bideau - The former fiancé and manager of Cathy Freeman, and current total prick, took out the Ernie award this year for the most sexist comment in the sports arena with the classic line "I never turned away from Cathy, no matter how fat she was in '97'.

Jerry Hall Vs Sir John & Sir Alec - Seems the former Mrs Jagger accumulated more column inches in the British press about her debut on stage as Mrs Robinson in The Graduate than was given to the coverage of the deaths of Sir John Gielgud and Sir Alec Guinness combined. Why? Because she goes nude and supposedly that's bigger news than the deaths of two of the greatest actors the world will ever know.

The West Indies losing to England in the Cricket - Shit.

Shooting someone in the forehead during a paintball game - Then doing a quick celebration after making such an amazing shot and then discovering you had managed to shoot the game referee.

Having a moral dilemma on the paintball field - Because you won't solve it and will end up having your arse shot up.

South Sydney City Council - After SOCOG finally got something done right with the painting of the blue line that indicates the marathon course along the city streets, the council came through and dug up half of Oxford St for resurfacing. Nice work people.

THE UGLY

Damir Dokic - The pain-in-the-arse father of Australian young tennis phenom Jelena Dokic got thrown out of yet another tennis tournament this week, when he got turfed out of the U.S. Open for starting a brawl about the price of fish in the player's cafeteria. Everyone says he destroying his daughters chance of a tennis career, but that's because they haven't seen the big picture. We have. He's going for the grand slam is all. He was booted out of the Australian Open, thrown out of Wimbledon and now turfed out of the U.S. Open. All he needs to do is get kicked out of the French Open and he would have become the first man to have been ejected from all four majors. Now that's impressive.

The U.S. Open - Because in one week we've lost Pat and the Poo, said nighty night to Agassi, got no sleep and now have little Leyton as our only hope.
