Dear Potential Grantee,

The Peace Development Fund sets aside a portion of its grants budget each year to meet the unforeseen technical assistance needs and emergency situations of the organizations that we support Requests for funding through the Technical Assistance and Emergency Grant Program (TA/E Program) are accepted on a rolling basis with decisions made generally within three weeks of submission.

All organizations seeking funding through the TA/E Program must fit within PDF’s grant making philosophy, goals, priorities and criteria. PDF’s grant making philosophy, goals and priorities are explained in brief below and may be found in their entirety on our website www.peacedevelopmentfund.org. The specific criteria for the TA/E Program are attached.

PDF believes that peace and justice are integrally linked and neither can be achieved without the other. PDF believes that the change in values needed to establish a more just and peaceful world will come about only if those changes are strongly rooted in communities which value the building of movements for systemic social change across such boundaries as race, class, gender, and sexual orientation . Therefore, the Peace Development Fund makes grants to organizations and projects that recognize that peace will never be enduring unless it is based on justice and upon the understanding and acceptance of both the diversity and unity of the human family and the world we inhabit. PDF seeks to empower those in traditionally marginalized and oppressed communities, especially people of color, to challenge the causes of injustice and lead a movement for social change.

With those beliefs in mind, PDF’s current funding priorities are in the following areas:

Youth
Environmental Justice
Criminal Justice
Community Organizing
Cross-border Organizing (Mexico/Canada/US)
Dismantling Racism
Indigenous Communities
Networking and Alliance Building
PDF’s granting is currently limited geographically to the United States, portions of Latin America and the Caribbean, and Cross-border Organizing (Mexico/Canada/US).

We encourage you to pay close attention to the attached criteria and guidelines for the TA/E Program. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our program making staff at (413) 256-8306.

In Solidarity,

The Technical Assistance/Emergency Grant Committee
