I cannot comment on last years voting as I was not involved but as far as I am aware proxy voting was not allowed in previous years.

If proxy voting is to be allowed then all members need to be sent voting slips that can be completed and returned prior to the AGM.

As far as I am aware this has never happened (don't know about last year) and the only forms included with the AGM documentation that require to be returned is the Committee position proposal forms.

This matter needs to be clarified so that all members are aware of what is and is not possible.

For that last 16 years I have attended every AGM and had the opportunity, after discussion and debate to vote for the people and ideas that I have felt to be in the best interests of the sport. This year I will not be attending and therefore understood that I would not be able to vote on the matters in hand as I would not hear the full debate. If I can continue to vote even though I have not made the effort to attend the AGM (for whatever reason)then I will take that opportunity. If I can't then I will support those who are voted in and work with them to help build the sport rather than destroy it, I hope that others do the same which ever the outcome.

Begin Rant !

Please remember also that very few members are prepared to put themselves into the "firing line" and those that do need to be encouraged and supported rather than ridiculed or attacked. These people are giving up a large proportion of their personal time to work in your and the sports best interests. If some of the "moaning minnies" would get off their backsides, understand the problems and do the same then the sport would be in a better position than it is now.

If you have strong feelings about matters "put up" your arguments and allow the members to choose, then "shut up" and allow whatever was agreed to be implemented. The sport will dissappear without the people prepared to do all the hard graft.

Unfortunately I see little "sportsmanship" of late and very little of the camaraderie that we were famous for. People need to work together more and realise that it takes time to build things and only minutes to destroy them.

Rant Over !

The point re membership is valid and maybe we should look at having the membership year finish at a different time to the financial year (remember OCR is a limited company so as to provide protection to the members in case of any financial problems).
