I went to Milwaukee and had a good time. Yesterday (Sunday 3/9/03) was a tough day, just thinking about the BU game, recovering from the bus drive home etc...I hope the season is not over. I'd like to see Willie G get another opportunity to end his college career with a better, more cohesive game. I don't think the refs lost the game for us, however. Our front court offensive weakness becomes more apparent against the better teams, such as Butler. We really only had two guys who consistenly would go to the bucket and get fouled, Wille and Terrell. I sat behind Titan Mike, behind the basket..We had the Titans in our end in the 2nd half. The refs did miss some holding calls and yes, they were liberal with the whistle. However, I don't think that's why we lost. I agree with another comment I read..hopefully, in JC land there's a 6'8"-6'9" type who makes the a grade academically, that we'll sign. Somebody like Warren who has some skills..so we don't get so guard dependent. I think the season has been a good one..we've gotten better as the year progressed, just not quite enough to break the Butler-Milwaukee level. ( I think, right now, we are as good as UIC) My vision for the NIT is this..Milwaukee wins Tuesday, the NCAA gives Butler an at large..bid..can't believe they'd by pass them again with 25 wins! That leaves us and UIC..I think the NIT would take both of us. We have have a good rep..plus with the expanded NIT (I believe its 40 teams now, that enhances our shot). We do need help..but surely, the NCAA wouldn't snub Butler yet again if Milwaukee wins Tuesday...
