I was at the tournament until the Titans were defeated. A lot of what you say is accurate, although, after all, the final was a home game for an NCAA bid so there damned well should have been 10,000 there (plus they have 24,000 students!).

I believe we'd fill Calihan with all those marbles on the line.

Attendance truly sucked for the games in which UWM was not involved (as bad as the other neutral site HL tournaments of the past).

But the point of the new format was to get two or more teams in the tournament and make a good tv impression, which I believe was achieved. The cost is the unbelievable advantage given to the top two seeds. It's a tough balance.

Finally, I have no gripe about PW not being a publicity-hound. His job is to put the best team on the floor he can and to manage them well during games (and make sure they become decent human beings). He does that rather well. Promotion is someone else's job.
