Sorry professor. Just because your a good promoter of the program doesn't mean your sudent athletes aren't decent human beings. To the contrary, every big time program and wannabe program recognizes that the personality of the coach is a factor. Its not just x's and o's. You can argue that its the assistants job to do the x's and o's. Its the head coach's job to recruit and lead! Whether you like it or not this means sound bites and photo ops. Perry just refuses to get it. Its his major failing. I can't believe he got a spot for the Pistons on TV and didn't where a Titan Red shirt or a Titan cap.

Lets take it a step further, from a purely administrative perspective, we won't have a program, until it can survive a change in coaches. Or two or three such changes. The program, as in Butler's case, can and should be bigger than any individual in it.
