There are 24,000 students attending UWM. However, at least 12,000 are part time students and another 6 or 7 are full time commuters. The population that actually lives on or around campus is close to 5,000 students. Until the recent successes of the baskeball program, there really hasn't been much to go out for. It is an urban commuter school much like UIC for example.
