The man appears surprised as two horses approach quite willingly. His hand tightens slightly on the coiled lasso, narrowing his eyes to scan these two and the others, searching for the prime of the herd. The quarter horse snorts lightly, emotionlessly. He had seen much of this before and had been trained to feel no sympathy for his master's charges. His smile returning, the cowboy picks his target and heels his horse forward, loosing his rope in a flash. The lasso lands snugly around the neck of the pregnant mare, who looks like she would carry a very healthy foal. (Sorry for powerplaying, but I'm just trying to make it interesting! If you don't want it to happen, just post something to that effect in character.) It would be easier to hold the mare in the stables and wait for the foal than to break a wild horse. He checks the firm hold of the other end of the lasso against the saddle horn, clenching his teeth to brace against the probable struggles of the mare. This would be easier with another to help him, but he should be able to take her without calling for help, especially since she is burdened with the foal.
