§Venus barks to the quiet male that she is taking Bazzel on a hunt, then turns tail and begins to stalk out of the clearing. No more than a few feet away she spots a rabbit, and she leaps on it and breaks its neck. The rabbit never knew what hit it. She picks it up and places it at Bazzel's feet and smiles at him in a motherly fashion. Knowing the growing pup, who is already a good size larger than she, will need more to satisfy his hunger than small game, she sniffs the wind for the scent of deer. She waits for Bazzel to finish his meal, and then once again sets off to hunt. They come across the harem in a large grassy clearing, like the meadow. She stalks through the tall grass towards them.§
