There was something about this women that put him at ease. Not that he was an uptight guy, but he was a cop, and when your a cop, even in a small town, your brain never stops processing whats going on. Reading into things that a civi would never think about, looking for tells that someone wasn't being truthful, looking for ulterior motive for just about everything. For whatever reason, he wasn't looking for that in Nevaeh. Odd, since women tended to be one of the places his brain really went into overdrive. Maybe it was simply her relaxed body language, or some kind of chemistry between them...
Or maybe it was the subtle sexual tension humming between them. Nothing severe, or even uncomfortable, just a faint hum of electricity between them. Sipping from his beer, he smirked at her comment about quaint little mountain towns. "Yay, it was nice. Cold as hell during winter, but you don't notice that so much when you grow up with it" Made the winters here look like a tropical paradise most of the time. His most sever winter spent in cascade had been far better than the most mild winter back home. He rolled his right shoulder slightly in memory of how it ached slightly in the winter. It was a good thing he never had time to visit home -no reason, really- because he was pretty sure it would just lock up on him in that kind of weather.
He chuckled as she mentioned being from new york mostly "Thought you seemed like a big city girl. Something about how you came in here like you owned the place" He let his pale gaze slide over the nearly deserted bar room, habit more than any real desire to see how the couple across the room was doing. "Work. Got transferred here right out the gate. I was only a kid" He hadn't even turned twenty when he'd gotten the position of Sheriff here in Cascade.
