I'd say from Virginia to New Mexico would be between 1800 and 2000 miles. If you drove straight without stopping, it would probably take you 30-40 hours.

TXF has always been famous for their ridiculous travel times, though. When Mulder hops into his car to drive up to Massachusetts to visit his mother, he's there later in the afternoon. Mulder and I live relatively close, geographically, and I know it takes about ten hours to get to the coast of Massachusetts from the Washington, D.C. area. And it takes about four hours to drive from Washington, D.C. to New York, but when Krycek drove up after Mulder ditched him in Sleepless, it took him only a few hours. And Scully's on the phone with him from Quantico, which is a bit south of D.C. and he tells her he'll be there in two hours. But if Krycek drove all the way up there he had to drive back, right? There are other examples too, but I can't think of them right now.
