As Rab said we've had a few eps already where they tell us we shouldn't be obsessing over their show. It's become a recurring theme this season. Its a slap to me because it's the loyalist of fans who made XF a phenomenon. Casual viewers can't do that. Also what annoyed me about Scully saying that the 9 years of paranormal meant nothing almost seemed like they were covering their bases if the mythology ends up not maskng sense. It's already so confusing and so may things like the bees, small pox, gestating liens in human hosts and black oil have been dropped for the super soldier plot.
And we were supposed to learn how Scully got pregnant this season. Now her baby isn't even around anymore.

And Scully saying there are more important things. Does she think Mulder feels the same? TXF was his life That's like telling a spouse that his job means nothing. You're a doctor/lawyer/architect? Oh, so what, as long as there's love it doesn't matter. A nice sentiment but poorly given.

I agree with CW and the Artiste that if the ep had been at a different time I might have reacted differently. I think they should have had "William" air right before the finale.
