Actually I enjoy these lists although I think there are many foreign films that are just as good if not better than the Hollywood classics. I saw that Harrison Ford line, hard to say. In the old Hollywood screwball comedies, you couldn't have sex except that its implied when the couple gets married which is at the end of the film. In fact, the whole movie can be seen as getting the audience to ask "when are these 2 going to get married i.e. sleep together?"

Modern romantic comedies still have some films in which the "deed" isn't done until the end but many now have the couple have sex right off and the conflict is "can they stay together and have a meaningfull relationship?" Lots of the movies on the list are known as more than romance films: Gone with the Wind is a sweeping epic, Vertigo is more a suspense mystery, King Kong was simply a silly addition. Actually, I just saw Albert Brooks' film Modern Romance, its really funny. A little dated now but a very simple story about a totally neurotic couple.

I suppose Annie Hall is my favorite romantic comedy. My wife really likes An Officer and a Gentleman.
