Subject: That Old Feeling :-)

ITA. I sat there totally engrossed and about 3/4 of the way through realized for the first time in over a year (maybe longer) I had that "old XF feeling" again. I was sooo happy. Yet it was bittersweet because I realized this was the last season. And, much as I truly miss Mulder, and feel that this show was really all about him, his quest, and his relationship (shipper/noromo/whatever it was) with Scully, this episode did show that, if the writiers and CC had truly been invested in the show after DD left, they could have made it work.

And, I do agree ,that I feel this past season would have stood a much better chance had they let Gillian out of her contract as she wished, and started anew with two fresh characters. I don't know that I would ever had had quite the devotion I had to Mulder and Scully, but it certainly would have been better than the dross they dished out for a good part of this season. (I feel like such a traitor saying this. I truly do love XF, but this past season, though it started out with high hopes, did not take long to plunge to depths below basement level, writing-wise IMHO.)

I have such mixed feelings about this being the last season. I will miss XF a lot. But once Mulder was gone, it all changed. CC should either have re-cast the Mulder role (not a good choice, but better than what happened, IMO), or else let the show die a natural, dignified death and just go on to the movies.

Ah.... I am rambling. It is late on the east coast and I have so much on my platter right now. But I had to revisit my XF friends. I miss you all and am sorry I visit so sporadically and infrequently. You have been a big part of a wonderful time in my life.

Though you don't hear from me much, you are all still with me continually in my heart and thoughts each day.
