Subject: Uhm...about Mulder and Leyla...

It took me awhile to get back on this episode...because I came in full of venom and saw you all gushing and didn't have the heart to comment. But now that I've calmed down a bit. Well, let me talk about what I LIKED about this episode.

I liked JD...he is growing on me as he settles into the gruffness of the character. I am beginning to accept the John Wayne stance as part of who he is...so the gas can thing was typical. And I hooted when he came up the hallway, because even as he looks up at the door I was thinking "JD doesn't have that much imagination." And wasn't it Leyla who said it was "the boy?" So, technically didn't she break the case? JD does do the confronting but I thought it was Leyla who solved the case.

Surprisingly, I didn't like Leyla here(though I stand by my original stand that she would have made a better character to pair with Doggett and Scully...and some day I may whip out a fanfic to show you guys HOW...it has to do with the pairing of opposites JD's sensible and serious approach and Leyla's wide-eyed encyclopedic knowledge of Mulder's work but no practical experience...it could have worked with a quality writer at the helm). However, I agree with most of you here it was annoying and I think that was an obvious set-up for the heavy handed JD line about M/S NOT here J/R ARE.

The special effects were good. The atmosphere was creepy and there were some good lines. Scully was priceless doing the cat autopsy on her kitchen counter(go Scully). But I have to wonder why CC, who is clinging to so few members of his audience would refer to TV viewers as lacking in imagination. Unless he was doing a bitter grapes kind of thing toward the droves of viewers who abandoned his show.

finding it tacky either way...
