I think Doggett had a few memorable lines in this episode, including (and this might not be exactly verbatim) "Agent Mulder and Agent Scully aren't on this case, Agent Doggett and Agent Reyes are. And Agent Doggett is going to sit his ass down."

I guessed from the beginning that the kid was the problem, but I still enjoyed this episode a lot. Although, to me, the teaser was possibly the most disturbing thing I've ever seen on television. It totally freaked me out seeing that kid's dad holding the door shut while the monsters came and got him.

I thought it was pretty obvious that Leyla Harrison was put there to make us realize that Doggett is as great as Mulder. She talks about Mulder the entire episode, plucking my nerves with every sentence, then at the end points out that Mulder couldn't have solved the case, only Doggett could. I personally don't need convinced that Doggett is as great as Mulder; I believe it. I do disagree with Leyla though. I think Mulder would have solved the case. He was one who figured out that it was all in their imaginations in HTGSC, and while I love Doggett, I think Mulder is about twice as smart and twice as quick to pick things up. Mulder always figured things out without us really knowing how, and I'm sure he would have known about this, especially if he saw that kid's scary pictures.
