Hello: I wrote the original post... I checked for a few days and then, when I did not get any responses, I stopped checking as much. I just went online now and saw sooo many responses.

First, let me say I know that I do not understand fully what it is like. I can read all the books and get all the degrees in criminal justice -- I can even visit jails and prisons -- but I do NOT know what it is like to work there day in and day out --- that IS WHY I wanted to talk to actual people who work there (and why I reached out on this post).

I did not realize CO's could be disciplined for just talking to someone... How is that possible? (I am not saying I do not believe you, I am just wondering)... Wouldn't your union protect you? Or the US constitution?

Clearly that is not acceptable.

Can I ask some of my questions here? I don't mind people replying honestly -- and even if you tell me when I am totally wrong and do not know what I am talking about --- but I do have feelings so if we could at least lower the hostility toward me personally, I would really appreciate that -- again, if I say something ignorant or incorrect, please correct me -- but in a way that does not have me crying in my pillow for a week
