Sailed on Nevasa twice as a dormitory passenger 1st time 11th feb 1969(was it really over 40 years ago) remember the 1st sight of her in Southampton what a size with a towering white hull and rows and rows of portholes. next day was a different story battling our way through a force 9 in the bay of biscay on our way to Gib,Malta,Nauplia,Athens, izmir and Venice flying home on an old dan air comet4.
Cruise no.2 was on the 4th june 1970 from leith to stockholm, Helsinki,Lenningrad,Copenhagen and back to Leith. My most vivid memory of this cruise was when one of our girls lost her green landing card in Lenningrad (of all places!) we were eventually allowed back on board!

I still have my souvenir booklet that we were given for the 1st cruise along with my log books and dormitory badges.

In the late 70s,early 80s I sailed on Uganda as a cabin passenger and it was interesting to see how the other half lived, the dinning saloon and lounges all done out in wood panelling.

I now have the book SS UGANDA the story of a special ship.
which is a great read. Is there a similar book for SS NEVASA?

Istill talk of these cruises but no one seems to believe that I went on such a trip with a school!

In October, I shall be taking a cruise for the 1st time since my last cruise on SS UGANDA in 1981, on Fred Olsen Cruises Black Watch don't think it will be the same but at least the Black Watch is not one of these huge monstsrosities that pass as cruise ships nowadays
