I remember this cruise (I'm not sure it was Nov 1982... but think so!) we had been booked to go on a cruise in the May and it got cancelled as the SS Uganda had headed off to be a hospital ship for the British troops involved in the Falklands (sp?) war.
I was part of the Wymondham College group. We all flew from Gatwick to Venice, Italy on a Dan Air flight where we spent one night before heading off to Dubrovnik, Yugoslavia; Limasol, Cyprus; Rhodes, Greece; Budram, Turkey; Haifa, Israel; and finally Valetta, Malta where we flew back home.
I can remember Gillian House & Christine Rix on the trip with me and we must have been either 4th or 5th form?
Also on our cruise was a group from Jersey, Channel Isles, I can remember Any Le Sailleur (sp?) from Jersey, also remember Jock a Scotsman from the Para-Military band that were cruising with us and went up on deck and played we are sailing every-time we left port... have never been able to hear Rod Stewart's song again without thinking of that cruise!
A great cruise, at a great stage of life, so much fun and hooked me on travel for ever!
Love to hear more from anyone who can confirm it was Nov 1982!
