My grandfather was on the USS Mellette during World War II. He was on the medic team on the ship and took pictures of his experience. I have the collection of pictures he took; Japanese citizens, USO show in Honolulu, a signalman (no name),crossing the equator ceremony, Hiroshima (after the bomb)and the doctors on the ship. I also have his certificate for when he crossed the equator, signed by F.H Spring Comdr. I would be happy to share these pictures if anyone is interested.
