 My father was also a "late arrival" at NTC Sampson NY, arriving on 22 June 1945. His name was Sam Sirko (I'm named after him). I'd love to figure out his company and unit while stationed at Sampson and find a group photo, but haven't been able to do so yet. It looks like his recruit training was not completed until 5 September 1945, so the USN must have been slowing down the entire process after V-J Day the previous month. Like the previous poster, he was then stationed at Lido Beach, NY until his discharge in August 1946.
