 I have been researching family history which includes my father's service in the Navy during WWII. The following site may be helpfull to you: https://vetrecs.archives.gov/VeteranRequest. I was able to request copies of my father's service records which included his enlistment,trainings, certificates, ranks, ship numbers and theaters served. They sent all of these documents, and affixed a seal on the discharge papers. It gave me a good start for my research. They also forwarded a request to the proper chanels to get all of my fathers medals replaced that were lost in a fire. I'm now researching more details. Good luck on your search.
