That's the most cost effective way to do it, yes.

If that's not feasable,

Go the first route, IMHO.

You would NOT get anyone better. You may get someone at the same level, but, IMHO Chris is as good as it gets. Just as good as Seumas (for those of you who remember him), just different. He will take the tools available and mold them as best he can into the BEST band it can be. There are some caveats, naturally:

1) Everyone has to put in the time. That means you actuially have to play your pipes the week prior to him showing up. It's amazing what problems will take care of themselves just by having everyone play their pipes.

2) Everyone must go in with an open mind. I would recommend everyone repeat the following: "This guy knows about 20 times more than Snoop did, and even more than Pat does. What he knows compared to what I know would be like comparing a tea spoon to the Atlantic Ocean. Yeah, they're both bodies of water, but one is much more expansive than the other. I'm going to question him, and grill him for answers, and get as much as humanly possible out of him for the day he's here."

Use him, that's what we're paying for. You wanna know how to scrape reeds...ask him. You wanna know the five easiest ways to get the band to perform better this season...Ask him! You wanna know what you can do to become a better player a year from now......you got it!!!ASK HIM!!! He WILL give freely of his knowledge. It is substantial.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
