Subject: Our pittie tried to bite us and now we don't know what to do...

Hi. My family has a 8-month old brindle pittie. We love him to death and he is the sweetest thing.

Tonight he growled at our daughter and my husband went over to swat him on the butt. A few minutes later, my husband went to "make up" with him and he tried to bite him (but just stayed in the corner). A few minutes later, I went over to see how he was and he tried to bite me. At this point, we locked him in his kennel.

We have three kids under age 10 and we don't want to have to worry about our dog hurting one of them (or our other dog, a rat terrier--even though they get along great right now)

We love our dog, but we feel like we can't trust him around the kids or our other dog now. What if something happened super fast while we were in the other room? It's just too big of a risk to take.

We are very sad because we feel like our only option is to euthanize him, which just breaks our hearts.

Can ANYONE think of anything we can do besides euthanize him? We can't keep him in our home if we can't trust him. And we can't keep him here while we wait to find him a home.

He is really the sweetest dog, rolls over and gives you his belly if you pet him, and just always has a ton of love to give.

If it were just us adults, we'd keep him, but couldn't live with ourselves if our kids got mauled or something. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. We are trying to do something to get him out of the house ASAP.

Thanks a lot--

Carley & Kris
