Your thoughts were very confusing; you stated that "I believe that each person should set their own ethics and morals, as long as they apply logic and keep their best interests in mind. What someone finds desirable is their "good" and what they find undesirable is their "evil". I believe that each individual should define his or her own "good" and "evil". In essence, to be their own god." Then you tell me that you think " Assisted suicide should also be legalized. People who are terminally ill and suffer from unbareable cronic pain should have the choice to die a quick, painless, and peaceful death instead of a slow, agonizing, miserable, and painful one. The same could be said for other victimless crimes, such as prostitution. What willing and consenting adults do in their own privite lifes is their own business, not anyone else. The only victoms are the tax payers whos money funds the futile attepts to combat these crimes. Justice is needed in order to maintain a functional society. I believe in Lex Talionus ("an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth") and that the punishment should fit the crime. The court system is letting criminals off the hook too easily. This is sending the wrong message to would-be criminals and many people no longer take the law seriously. These parasites are a burden to society and should not be tolerated. The more harsh a punishment is for a crime, the less likely it would be committed."
Comments: So then which is it? Are we to be our own god, and punish the criminals that are their own god too? If this is the case, then what if the criminals, (a term that they would probably not choose for themselves), being a god unto themselves, are doing what they believe in, but this is judged by you or the courts to be wrong. Then that line of reasoning has a double standard that says We are our own gods, but you are not your own god. Then you go on to talk about the so called "Victimless Crimes" you even admit that there are victims, one being taxpayers, but you are silent about the other victims, such as the child that could be born of act of prostitution, but the fact is that the child would most likely be aborted so that the woman could continue in her profession. Do you really think that more laws help? We have more laws prohibiting guns in and around school properties, yet we still have shootings. Most of the kids doing the shootings stated that they had no hope. What hope can you offer? I can tell you about Jesus, but you told me that you already know Him yet you wished that you didn't. It sound like you don't know who Jesus really is. There are a lot of problems in this world and mankind has not been able to solve them. I believe that God has the answers. -Dave
