points regarding chapter 21.

*Regarding interest rates. They raised them to stop the housing bubble: instead of raising rates, [which causes stagflation is inflation], they must not hand credit out to who cannot afford, and only give loans out at true appraisal values, will then prevent housing bubbles from occurring. [They haven't done this, because people won't be able to afford]. President Carter did attempt to place in credit controls, for the first time since the Great Depression era. …High interest rates is only rate of return; greed is the true reason to do so only.

*”Looking For Mr. Goodbar” a movie out in Hollywood by 1977, about a woman who is murdered during a “one night stand” sexual encounter. Having sex on the first date, is expected. The true dangers are real. While there is no self esteem, much less a feeling of woman empowerment, to believe you must have a man. This is what we have.

*Ted Koppel, reporter, had an emergency show. “Day 56 of the Iranian Hostage takeover!” …This show continued on for 30 years; still is on.. “Nightline”, on ABC TV network.

*Mohammud Resa Pahlavi, the Shah of Iran. Born 1919-1980. He had to flee Iran, due to the Iranian Revolution, along with his 3rd wife Farah. They did not fight back, they left. They were put through the business, having to leave for here, then there. They should have been allowed to go directly home, where they wish to be. …As leaders who simply leave, better be treated really correctly; but even any tyrant who will leave, thus saving the people of that country if you allow him to go home, to wherever is safe all the way around. Any tyrant who will leave, is also, trying not to be; let us help all our brethren on earth properly, is not better then other people, nor wanting anyone to be a sociopath.

*Mid 1980’s, I’m an adult, and I observed the head of the Federal Reserve, Paul Volker, discuss that they are raising interest rates to stop growth, and this did not make sense to me; because growth sounds good. [In Chinese, growth defined here: bubble bursting need.] Around the same period Ravi Batra’s book, “the Great Depression of 1992” came out, speaking of depression cycles, and how wage power decreases, then boom, another depression, -- predicted to occur, in 1992. (He was wrong, it occurred 1989.] …I said to myself, “Self, you know that’s right.” ….Saw my dad and asked him to give me a quick run down on how the economy works. If politicians and journalists did know, Dad will know. He was taken aback in his appeared response, and only said that he could not. And then he said, “Why don’t you figure it out.” …[planned on doing, is why I asked]. And then the research began. But the most important point I wish to make here, is that if my Dad had believed poverty is curable, he could have already figured out the economy himself. As some other people could have; especially who lived through the New Deal era. And this is why most people were not willfully covering up during the 1960’s, is clear. . ….And while my main thing is emotional health; we need that to go with the economy, actually. Leaving people in fear of destitution is poverty, is vicious, is the answer. Utopian means no where; a Normal world does not have poverty for god sake. , To such a degree, when I wrote my hometown newspaper, latter 1990’s, about the economy, an academia man responded with, --- but the character of man. And I said to self, “Self, the emotional health papers go with that.” I did write a letter to the Editor, and was properly published, “living wages = healthy business= wealthy money markets = permanent surplus. [Then I picked on McDonalds because that job is hard! You have to be smart and quick to do that job. Inasmuch as, slow and average IQ‘s deserve just as fine a lifestyle in their trained jobs, as smarter people. Slow people trained properly, are as great at their jobs, as properly trained smart people. No self respect if somehow you are better then a slow person.]

*“In November 1972, Indian activists traveled to Washington, D.C. for the Trail of Broken Treaties. They were armed with a 20-point proposal for revamping the BIA and establishing a government commission to review treaty violations. When informed that a planned meeting with BIA officials would not occur, over 400 remained at BIA headquarters. On November 2, guards on regular duty threatened the activists with forcible removal. The protesters evicted the guards and began a week-long siege of the building, during which time some government property was destroyed and government information stolen. Shortly afterwards, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) classified AIM as "an extremist organization" and added it to the list of "key extremist" organizations in the country.” -- off of the “Wild Rivers American History Project Website.”

*“The Menominee experience. For thousands of years, the Menominee Nation occupied a vast territory - over 10 million acres of what is now Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. The loss of their land began in 1822 when Congress encouraged the Menominee to sell some of their land to the Iroquois so they could be resettled in northern Wisconsin. In 1832, the Menominee signed a second treaty with the U.S. government in which they received $285,000 for 3 million acres (about 8 cents an acre). A third treaty in 1836, forced the Menominee to sell another 4.2 million acres - including all of their lands in Upper Michigan - for $620,000. A final, and the most influential treaty, was signed at Wolf River in 1854, thereby establishing a reservation for the Menominee in northern Wisconsin. The Menominee Reservation contained 235,000 acres, less than 3% of their ancestral homeland, which included 350 square miles of White Pine timber. In 1872, the Menominee began operating their own tribally-owned saw mill which competed with private non-Indian timber companies in the area. In 1908, the Menominee began a program of sustained yield harvest to ensure an income for future generations. The program was so successful that by 1955, the United States Treasury had accumulated over $10 million in a Menominee trust account from their timber operations.
In 1961, however, the federal government terminated the Menominee's tribal status and their reservation became a Wisconsin county. Because the saw mill could not provide enough tax base to pay for the services required of a county government, the Menominee went from being one of the most self-sufficient Indian Nations to having the lowest standard of living in Wisconsin. Shortly after termination, the Menominee were forced to sell part of their reservation as lakefront lots for vacation homes. Federal recognition was restored in 1973.” off of the Wild River Education website for teachers.

*”Another concern was the failure of the justice systems in border towns to prosecute white attacks against Lakota men who went to the towns for their numerous saloons and bars. Alcohol was prohibited on the reservation. Local police seldom prosecuted crimes against the Lakota, or charged assailants at lesser levels. Recent murders in border towns heightened concerns on the reservation. An example was the early 1973 murder of 20-year-old Wesley Bad Heart Bull in a bar in Buffalo Gap, which the tribe believed was because of race. AIM led supporters to a meeting at the Custer, South Dakota courthouse, where they expected to discuss civil rights issues and wanted charges against the suspect raised to murder from second-degree manslaughter. They were met by riot police, who allowed only five people to enter the courthouse, despite blizzard conditions outside. Reinhardt notes that the confrontation became violent, during which protesters burned down the chamber of commerce building, damaged the courthouse and destroyed two police cars, and vandalized other buildings“ [wikipedia].

*Wounded Knee Incident of 1973 again. AIM, The American Indian Movement, occupied the town of Wounded Knee in South Dakota, on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, when they were unable to impeach their tribal president who was accused of corruption. [Remember, the Indian movement had their own “Berlin Lift” during the occupation.] ….After the occupation was over, the same Tribal president was still president, and violence increased on the reservation. More then 60 activists were killed, including the director of the Olala Sioux Civil Rights Organization, [OSCRO].
2 FBI agents were killed, shot at close range. 3 AIM protestors were indicted. Lenard Peltier was tried separately and is still in prison today.

*This quote off of wikipedia is under the title, Disputed facts: “According to former South Dakota Senator James Abourezk, "on February 25, 1973 the U.S. Department of Justice sent out 50 U.S. Marshals to the Pine Ridge Reservation to be available in the case of a civil disturbance. ….. AIM says that its organization went to Wounded Knee for an open meeting and "within hours police had set up roadblocks, cordoned off the area and began arresting people leaving town… the people prepared to defend themselves against the government’s aggressions." By the morning of February 28, both sides began to be entrenched.”

*“…during the 1979 crisis, Carter reinstated some price controls on gasoline, which again had the effect of causing lines at gasoline stations….” [These lines, I do not recall, occurring again.] “During his "malaise" speech he asked Congress to impose a “Windfall Profit Tax“ to help pay for energy efficiency initiatives. Enacted in 1980 on domestic oil production, the tax was repealed in 1988, as prices had collapsed in the 1980’s oil glut, making it politically possible to remove the tax; [as this] removal [was] one of President Reagan's campaign issues.” wikipedia

*The New Republic. A liberal minded magazine, who claims to have even created the term liberal, defined social justice and decent wages. “As of 2004, however, some, like Anne Kossedd and Steven Randall, contend that it is not as liberal as it was before 1974.” [wikipedia] As we do know 1974 is exactly the period when the stimulus was forgotten, -- although Mr. Ford attempted to bring it up one time.

“In March 1974, [coincidently], the New Republic magazine was purchased for $380,000 by Harvard University lecturer Martin Peretz from Gilbert Harrison. Peretz was a veteran of the New Left who had broken with that movement over its support of various Third World liberationist movements, particularly the Palestine Liberation Organization.” [wikiepedia] This gentleman is young, born 1938. Which has him mostly, too young to have typically been fully aware of the true stimulus era which was still the main action to jump start an economy, through out the 1950‘s into the 60‘s.

*John B. Anderson b. 1922. A republican U.S. congressman from Illinois, he ran as an independent in 1980, when too many famous contenders were in the Republican primaries. A 50 cent gallon tax to reduce consumption and a 50% tax reduction on social security tax. This is whatever. Both parties sound the same, except for international issues, and abortion/social issues, which is not even mentioning protecting people from homelessness is criminal neglect. He did support President Carter’s grain embargo against the Soviet Union. A leading liberal magazine, the National Review, supported in 1980, Mr. Anderson, a Republican, running as an independent. Both parties, economically, sound the same. The era of voting either for Tweedle Dum or Tweedle Dee is here.

*1981, the Carter Center was established. Sponsors human rights, immunizations for children in Atlanta. Low income housing; fixing up homes for the poor; Habitat for Humanity. …1990, Carter persuaded President Daniel Ortega to step down, and allow Violeta Chamorro be president. [As foreign leaders are given credit along with Carter, -- including Mr. Begin and Mr. Sadat, -- when they do the right thing. That Mr. Ortega did hand power over, kept the Reagan Republicans from being able to say, “I told you so.”]
…….Mr. Carter helped mediate between President Clinton and various world leaders. ….Early 1990’s, Mr. Carter negotiated with North Korea, Kim Il sung, to freeze their nuclear program. …..Mr. Carter brought messages from Somali Warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid to Clinton, avoiding a military confrontation. ….President Clinton called Mr. Carter in to help in Haiti. The elected president, Jean-Bertrend Aristide, 1991, left; and the country was plagued in violence in poverty. Mr. Carter persuaded the military leaders to hand governmental power over to the U.S. until they held elections. The compromise allowed these military leaders to stay in Haiti.]

*George Wallace, b.1919. It was 1958, Wallace was defeated when he ran for governor of Alabama, because he was not aligned with racists. So he became aligned with racists. He refused to cooperate with the Civil Rights commission, during the 1962 elections in Alabama. As Governor. He stood in the school house doorway at the University of Alabama, temporarily preventing 2 black students from attending. …1972, a 21 year old man shot Mr. Wallace, for the motive it was found out, to be famous. He was crippled, in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. ….He will run again, opposing Mr. Carter in the Primaries. ….1979, Mr. Wallace called civil rights leader John Lewis to ask for his forgiveness for his racist actions from the past. …1982, back in the governor’s office, he appoints a record number of black people to public office. He died in Alabama, 1998.

*Voyager 1. The Space program continued under President Carter.

*According to Howard Zinn, historian, the U.S. government, the Army had a program to train foreign military officers at the Panama canal, called the “School of the Americas”. Six of the graduates were in the Chilean military junta that overthrew the democratically elected Allende, in 1973. ….Secretary of State Henry Kissinger formally initiated a policy of selecting cutbacks in U.S. aid to countries who didn’t vote as we want them to at the United Nations. With horror stories in tow.

*President Carter approved tax reforms that mainly helped the wealthy. …”Well, as you know, there are many things in life that are not fair, that wealthy people can afford and poor people cannot.” Was Carter’s response to rich women only can get abortions. [Zinn] Selfishness pays low as possible wages, is the cause of poor people. [Life is not fair is what Carter intended to say: most of you are this ignorant, [defined, unknowing]. Life better get fair bucko’s is the Law.]

*Well sirs, most of us either didn’t know, or didn’t know we know.

*We are all, each and every one of us, put here on earth, to begin our eternal adventures. Our material world was created by God, as a training world. Our purpose on Earth is to progress all consciousness, certainly has everyone safe and sound, while we train. [As if, We are all here on earth, to get mine, (takes yours), and criminally neglect who you think isn’t equal to you.] Believe Truth is true only, is what belief in God is.
