Subject: Chapter 21: 1976-1980: History of the United States of America.

“"Indians have a life expectancy of 44 years. On many reservations, there are no jobs. Unemployment on Pine Ridge is 87%. Indians have no hope. We live in rotten conditions, many in tar paper huts, without water or heat. We have little health care, and what we have is terrible. Our infant mortality rate is the highest. Our ancestors treated with the U.S. government. In return for peace, we were guaranteed our rights over small parts of the land our peoples had inhabited for generations, so that we could continue our way of life. Then the lands were stolen. Some for gold. Others for water or coal or uranium for the energy companies or for grazing land for white cattle ranchers. The government violated every treaty. Our way of life was stolen too. The missionaries came. Our religion was stolen. The Bureau of Indian Affairs came. Our way of governing ourselves, thousands of years old, was stolen. We are still a conquered people. Our children are taken away from us, stolen, sent to boarding schools hundreds of miles away. They're punished for practicing their native religions, hit when they speak their native tongues...I just want my people to survive. No one listened when we spoke politely about injustice. Only when we raised our voices did people begin to listen." (As quoted in Stern, 1994:23-24.)” Dennis J. Banks [off of the “Wild Rivers Teaching American History website.]

*The Prejudice Sisters were raised to see, they should raise their self esteem by putting people down. This did placate their self hatred for a moment; but then, it made self hatred even worse! Every day, they grew down and out of empathy. They are better then ugly people, poor people, slow people, gay people, mentally ill people, you name it. They had no duty for these people. They’d invite you to stay only to throw you out in pretended tempers. Harder then Fort Knox, meaner then a junk yard dog, actually; although they seem perfectly fine to speak to them. They resented God if God dare see they should be inconvenienced to help who they don’t need. Barely no empathy at all, if they have any at all, and then they heard the Word, means it, they used to, but didn’t get it actually, as empathy is a piss ant. Facts remain. Empathy is our soul. The roll call in Heaven, when the Lord brought us to our first heavenly world, and the Prejudice sisters were missing. It is fair to care about every person equally. They did hear to… STOP. Feels self esteem, if you do. Fear still hears, to agree. Scientifically, truth is fact of it. The Sociopath could, if he would, agree. It wasn’t fair that a person is taught to grow down accidentally. It would have been me for every person who prefers to agree it is fair only to care about every person equally, self corrects, is honest only now. The truth will set you free emotionally for all who work through their guilt honest; feels better on the other side.

Chapter 21: History of the United States of America 1976 - 1980

By 1946, the Indian Claims Commission had been created to deal with Indian Claims. Any claims to be accepted must occur before 1951. The 3 member ICC however operated until 1978. In all, 342 awards were given out totaling $818,172,606,64 in judgments. Yet, to our national dismay and terror, the federal government was disbanding tribal reservations. This occurred to the Flathead, Klamath, Menominee, Potawatum, Turtle Mountain, Chippewa, and all tribes in California, New York, Florida, and Texas. All Federal Aid withdrawn! The House concurrent Resolution 108, along with Public Law 280. Indian land was no longer the federal governments property to concern, but now, is up to the States. Reservations stripped from the native people, by Congress. Many American Indians now had to join the urban poor in the big cities. And it isn’t said how much money there, the U.S. government callously saved. The Native Tribes; not represented in Congress at all. [It is as if the government attempted to make all funds come out $0.00 actually paid to the Tribes, if you leave all tribes in..] …The State better behave with civil rights for all equally, or it is always a Federal issue again, anyway.

Will you imagine: Finally, Tribal members believe a little justice with these monies will be realized, finally, and then the US government turns right around and grossly persecutes other Tribes. How frightening this must have been.

Finally Red Power began during the 1960’s. Activists called for true and real Tribal self government. Federal support for tribal sovereignty, and improved living conditions.
….The Trustee-ward relationship: The U.S. had with the American Tribes.

One activist group was AIM, the American Indian Movement co founded by Chippewa Indian organizer Dennis J. Banks. AIM was created originally, 1968, to stop police brutality.

1978, Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistant Act. Is self evident, what this is for. The Supreme Court case, U.S. v. Wheeler came about, -- a tribal member on trial is the Tribes issue only. And the Indian Child Welfare Act was passed. Tribal courts handle Indian children. All very small wins.

“1989 report of the Special Committee on Investigations of the Senate Select Committee on Indian Affairs urged the federal government to recognize the tribes' "permanent right to exercise self-government" and "relinquish all its existing paternalistic powers." (U.S Senate, 1989.) To that end, in 1994, President Clinton pledged to honor tribal sovereignty.” [“Wild Rivers Teaching American History website.]

Four years after the Wounded Knee occupation in 1973, the courts decided to finally pay for this land at 1870’s real estate prices. Although the government later raised the amount. All 7 Sioux Nation Tribal Counsels demanded their land back instead; as it was never for sale, thank you very much. This money is still in a trust gaining interest.

Insane in Vietnam, insane to the Poor at home also, are the governors. Meanwhile. If I don’t treat you right, then I won’t treat you right either.

The Watergate Scandal occurred during a Republican administration; and Mr. Ford pardoned Mr. Nixon’s scoundrel behavior, is what some thought. This was the verbiage at the time. Fresh air on the political scene will have a candidate running who is not from the political establishment. This candidate had to be a Democrat actually; because this season, the Republicans simply cannot win.

Comedy will have it that Johnny Carson is running the United States, behind the scenes, in secret meetings. Ed McMahan is there. [There had even been a Muppet comedy skit, on TV, 1980’s, with this scenario.] Or, a Sinister man with a snake wrapped around his neck visits the presidents, the very moment they are elected and left alone in their Whitehouse office. ….Establishment wants this or that; and who is establishment?

As there are many “think tanks” in this country.

As God as my witness, a little old lady is drinking tea while deciding the fate of the United States. Somewhere, in a very expensive mansion. The Donor. We pray, this one individual is not a prejudice sister? Fairness all the way around always is acceptable all the way around also, unless you simply love to hate.

It is said, Jimmy Carter, Peanut farmer, is an outsider, [well, no; he was governor of Georgia.], and was the preferred choice of the Trilateral Commission founded by David Rockefeller and Zbigniew Brzezinski, [will be Carter's National Security Officer.] …What?

Corporate wealth and power, is, do we have a democratic republic or a dictatorship of the rich, -- willfully, would be sinister indeed, if they are all in lockstep to roll over and bully all who are not as powerful as them.

By time the 1976 presidential race came along, interest rate increases had ceased for a small period in time. By 1978 however, interest rate increases are occurring again; double digit numbers! Interest rates however, even in 1976, have already created inflationary trends which now are shrinking spending power, thus shrinking incomes, causing high unemployment. Our economy already, isn’t what it used to be. However, because the FED isn’t raising interest rates at the moment, the main focus in the campaign was in truth, the hold that the America public now is moving beyond Watergate, and is looking for Honor, Openness in government. …The general population, not merely the apolitical, but the bright and political, and!, even the presidents, do not understand why raising interest rates causes inflation, they all refer to as stagflation. …The Democrats are big spenders, so says the very right wing of the Republican party, -- none for whom understand how the economy works, including Ronald Reagan, who is now the Face for Buckley’s economic false views. Facts remain. If you have never been poor, or only your parents were, not you, as an adult: you must go see to understand the poor, would never have left them out as if, that is okay. [Most are assigned to poverty, due to their IQ, and or inability to make it through the memorization schools. These people can just be afraid their whole life, and these people do not get to go out and do anything, or buy anything. Is mercenary to do to these Equal personalities in God; to be told, you know.]

It is true, for a while now, huge corporations have been paying off candidates in both parties. And if you need to mind the money man, you are not going to do your job as president or in the halls of Congress, very well, are you. This is undemocratic; rich people have the Voice backed up with big money. The end of democracy is to allow this anymore.

As everyone who was an adult in 1953, were you old enough to understand both parties knew to bring about stimulus? Jimmy Carter in 1953, was in the Navy. During his navy years, he had taken Nuclear Physics and reactor technology classes. Mr. Carter even helped clean up a Canadian nuclear accident. Not only was Mr. Carter a governor of Georgia, he had been State Senator twice. Due to a Senate run, Mr. Carter had to sue against illegalities and election reform.

Before Mr. Carter ran for president, he actually did not have a national base or major backing. He was backed however, and won 6 of the first 8 state presidential primaries. George Wallace ran again, on the racist side; however, quickly enough, his campaign went by the wayside. As liberal mentions the poor need a safety net, or higher wages, should have been the issue; except, the powers that be, did not make care to any of that. … Jerry Brown, Governor from California, a liberal, ran, but in 1976, economically, he sounded actually less of a liberal then he did in 1992, when he ran for president supporting the Unions, -- something we hadn’t heard since 1966. [As the Republicans pound the Unions, and wish them no power at all.] …It was Caesar Chavez who nominated Brown as a candidate. All Democratic candidates want to balance the budget as the big solution, is the main economic topic. Jerry Brown was one of the first to be for a balance the budget amendment. Carter was for balancing the budgets, “pork barrel”, wasteful spending, and the economy simply wasn’t discussed so much as, the environment, Ecology, is now the focus, against the death penalty, for Roe vs. Wade, [although the candidates are not personally for abortion], to save on energy, and new energy sources. However, Mr. Carter was the very first, due to his personal experience, to call for the need for campaign reform, to get money out of politics is a need. Mr. Carter’s long suit was his dislike for patronage and compromise, lobbyists. If he sounded like an outsider, this was it.

Brown and Carter both, honestly do not understand the stimulus. Because, no one else does, except who?, the federal reserve chairman perhaps? Some old college professor from way back? No one understood at that hour; except Gerald Ford and older academia types.. Thus, the “liberals”, -- a term invented in 1974 [I read, but I do not recollect that the term came in this late],-- tended to fall for the same above economic rhetoric, as if that is how to actually cure the economy. A liberal was a fellow who is not against homosexual rights, abortion pro choice, concern for ecology, these types of issues. Economically, a progressive’s view never was that of a liberal. And a true progressive, is the politically attentive poor person who has no voice, at this hour. The era of both parties being in philosophical lockstep is here; except, they are wrong. The whole pack.

Yale University is held accountable for the Stimulus’ disappearance, as if not true reality.
Someone was sinister way back when they heard that new economic “opinions, -- ignored fact that is proven”, to swing us backwards to permanent poverty for most, so long as I have mine. And no one said, “Bunk heads, economic fact well rounded is proven fact, not to be disputed.”

Someone was sinister, possibly a pocket of sociopaths, -- as they do tend to come in pockets. Packets of quanta.

The Republicans had many famous names in their primaries; however, Ronald Reagan, ex actor and ex governor of California: leader of the Republican party now.

Reagan, the face for invisible commercialists‘, who taught him how they say the economy works. Buckley had a brilliant IQ; but brilliance does not prevent ignorance caused by not understanding the poor, number one, and two, economic facts were fully known by someone at the hour; as the young Buckley came out with his complaints to guess who. Yale; who was name called elitist by the most elitist people actually. They hated the Eisenhower wing of the Republican party so much; only because Eisenhower did know how the economy works; and felt this is the way it works.

Unusual for an incumbent president, such as Mr. Ford to have to fight in his parties primaries for the nomination; but this occurred because he had never been elected as president by the citizens. Reagan ran against Ford; but Ford knew he would win by the time the parties convention occurred.

Mr. Reagan had been born 1911; the man was old; thus, he should have absolutely remembered the true stimulus era, except, no one in or out of academia had written the simple version of the economy, as they should have done, by 1950 certainly. This is of course, is why Mr. Buckley and others led the economic conversation away from the true stimulus, as economic fact is mere opinion [when it is not]; because this simple version, not having been written, didn’t exist, although it could have.* Mr. Reagan had initially been a New Deal guy; but he was sold a bill of goods later.

The wealthy youth: The poor can be poor only, or the poor have always been, or, not yet truly paying attention until the 1960‘s. Prejudice towards the poor tells them to use the bootstrap that does not exist. If I can do it you can; as if, everyone has my circumstance. Charmed.

Mr. Reagan is only 7 year younger then my grandmother who never would wear pants, although she lived to 1995. This is important, if you are to understand this generation.

President Ford appeased Ronald Reagan by changing his vice president to someone more to Reagan’s liking, [Bob Dole, Senator from Kansas]; while Reagan chose a vice presidential candidate to satisfy Ford’s moderates. The Republicans of course, ran on the idea that the communists will take over the world if you don’t vote Republican. And while this may sound disingenuous, Mr. Reagan had an honest fear of communist takeover. As he complained Mr. Ford didn’t do enough in Viet Nam and frankly, Ronald Reagan is simply , he will protect and defend this country is what; military spending never has a, but what about the deficit concerns, to be spoken of. . …The Democrats are big spenders, is the rhetoric, and they will raise taxes. And the Democrats, not knowing any other idea for the economy then the Republicans, said they are not either. ….Jimmy Carter won. A fresh new outsider face. Walter Mondale, became vice president. Mr. Carter was the very first president from the deep south since 1848.

Go to church every Sunday, and eat out afterwards. You have to care about a fellow, has his best interests at heart. No one left out. Won’t have any judgments to hand down at all, only a help is true understanding, always cures the problem, if there is one.

We, all the Democrats I guess, the middle and above classes are alarmed the homeless exist. We guess we like to think the homeless can help it, so that we won’t have to feel it could be me who is thrown asunder, and then, refused back in. Spooky. … Huh. Guess so. Had this conversation when I was 15. Cure homelessness or die eternally is exactly what the homeless know about us; or rather, not going to make it into heaven with the attitude that anyone who is not me, can suffer, never recover, like that. Is fair.

Walter Mondale was a U.S. Senator from Minnesota, [appointed to Hubert Humphrey’s seat, when Humphrey resigned to become Vice-President under Johnson.]. … “Mondale worked hard to build up the center of the party on economic and social issues. Unlike his own father, a fervent liberal, he was not a crusader for the New Deal. Instead he realized the Democratic base (especially ethnic blue collar workers) was gradually moving to the right and he worked to keep their support.” [wikipedia] [Media is who tells blue collar workers things; the media tells the blue collar workers what to think regarding how the economy works. Mr. Mondale did not understand the economy clearly. The journalist empire is here, relaying to us earnestly, the facts. Advertisers, government, tell journalists what not to report. They censor, is Treason. Real Treason, not fake treason, like any Republicans complaint about any demonstrator of the war, -- who demands our country be moral, is honest intent.

[“The 1974 Congressional midterm elections took place fewer than three months after Ford assumed office and in the wake of the Watergate scandal. The Democratic Party turned voter dissatisfaction into large gains in the House elections, taking 49 seats from the Republican Party, and increasing their majority to 291 of the 435 seats.” wikipedia]

Human rights issues were not being heard at home; but Mr. Carter stressed these matters internationally. …He chose Andrew Young, as Ambassador to the U.N., [he is black, mentioned, because it is 1977, not 2011.] President Carter via Andrew Young, built up good relations in countries all over the world, especially in Africa, and they urged South Africa to liberalize their policies towards black people. ……Meanwhile, back at the ranch, as they say, U.S. policy had been for 2 centuries, supporting tyrants who are friendly to U.S. business interests, and needed for U.S. military needs; thus, a blind eye to countries who torture their citizens, imprison them with out trial.

Fake democracies propped up and supported by the U.S., while any candidate for the people is deemed communist; because the U.S. businesses are fine under the tyrants.

Congressman Herman Badillo introduced to Congress a proposal requiring the U.S representatives to the World Bank and other international financial institutions to vote against loans to countries that abuse, torture, jail citizens for political reasons alone. Carter sent a letter to every Congressman not to pass this bill. The bill won in the House but not in the Senate. [Zinn] {Students: Why did Carter feel this way?}

President Carter refused to allow Vietnam reconstruction funds. At a press conference he said, “the destruction was mutual”. [The destruction was upon civilians also, a lot, for the purpose of keeping real estate out of the hands of the North Vietnamese Communist Country, who helped the poor people, while, the U.S. is the bad guy, so believes the South Vietnamese people.]

President Carter gave amnesty to the Vietnam draft dodgers.

President Carter installed solar water heating panels on the Whitehouse and wore sweaters, so that he could turn down the heat and save energy. …He chose not to pursue completion of the neutron bomb. A good thing. However, his experience in nuclear physics had to be why partly at least, he thought enlarging the nuclear power plant momentum was to be greatly encouraged. As he encouraged we car pool, so forth, anything to save energy, so that our country won’t have to depend on other countries for oil, -- as the previous oil crisis had made us concerned very much about this. [That man made things break, is why, today, this whole idea that we need nuclear energy at all, is, we now need to be rid of all these dangerous plants. Did money people lead us unfairly in this direction, in as much as solar technology is now most improved? Politicians did seem to feel the same mostly, about this issue, in 1977. The public was mostly indifferent. Earth Quake zones must hurry up closing down their nuclear plants.] The Dept of Energy was proposed in 1977, a new executive department. An energy bill was bogged down, but eventually passed. [A Labor Law Reform Bill failed to pass.]

A toxic waste landfill was found in the neighborhood of Love Canal in the city of Niagara Falls, NY. 800 families had to be evacuated. Their homes were needing to be torn down even. A Superfund law was passed for federal disaster funds to clean this mess up.

Way back in the olden days, Theodore Roosevelt, 1903, had the Panama Canal built, and the U.S. had “all the rights, power and authority in Panama.” By 1964 the Panamanians were protesting for the U.S. to go home. Mr. Kissinger, for Mr. Nixon, handled this issue, and an agreement was signed. President Carter continued negotiations, and finalized 2 treaty agreements. The U.S. can no longer intervene in Panamanian domestic affairs, but can defend the canal itself. The treaty was ratified by two thirds majority, and also a Neutrality Treaty, that stipulated we can keep the canal open by force. Ronald Reagan was hugely against these treaties, and felt all should have been left as it had been for so long. [Although U.S. military carriers were even too big to go through the canal; the military need for the canal, not needed like the old days.] Both Treaties were signed October 1, 1979. ….A delay in time, before the canal was actually turned over; but even that, was years ago, from 2012.

1978, President Carter, in addition to all he did behind the scenes as ex-president diplomatically*, did the seemingly impossible, and invited both Anwar Sadat, president of Egypt, and Prime Minister Benachim Begin to Camp David Maryland. The Camp David peace Agreement was signed. This was a big deal, and the American people could feel that it is. Relations were normalized, and the Sinai Peninsula was given back to the Egyptians. [Nomadic people live on this Peninsula. They were wealthy in their way, to have their land to be nomadic on. Israel had kept it this way. Unfortunately the Egyptians did not, and they are on bits of parcel land, living now, in abject poverty.] And, the Mideast Camp David Agreement even included a plan for self rule in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

The PLO, the Palestinian Liberation Army. Self determination. Yasser Arafat, had been the PLO leader from 1959, until his death in the 2000’s. Early on, Mr. Arafat wanted simply for the Jews to leave Israel/Palestine. Years go by, and he even earns a Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts. ….Before his moderate years, 1970, with those plane hijackings, his reputation had been plundered; so he did condemn the hijackings. After the kidnapping and murders of the Israeli Olympic members at Munich, “Arafat closed Black September down, ordering the PLO to withdraw from acts of violence outside Israel, the West Bank and Gaza Strip”. [wikipedia] Well, we don’t want violence inside Israel, the West Bank and Gaza Strip, either. Terrorist bombings inside Israel occurring on and off through out the years, up to today, is why the Israeli government never had to look at itself and behave in a well rounded proper way, is fact only. ….During the 1980’s terrorist bombings continue, retaliation occurs from Israel also. Arafat did have monetary support by the worlds criminal leader types, which is, funds. ….then changes came. On 15 November 1988, the PLO proclaimed the independent State of Palestine. Though he had frequently been accused of and associated with terrorism, in speeches on 13 and 14 December Arafat accepted UN Security Council Resolution 242, Israel's right "to exist in peace and security" and repudiated 'terrorism in all its forms, including state terrorism'. Arafat's statements were greeted with approval by the US administration. …Mr. Arafat, as a character study, should be well rounded truth is fair only; and this is the way we approach everyone, for now on.

In South Africa, black people were not allowed equal rights under the law, Apartheid. In Israel the same system remains for Arab Israeli’s. The Jewish people get the good jobs; the Arab Israeli‘s, second class citizens. The Israeli government should be angry with suicide bombers, or any bombs; however, the Israeli government has not been fair to the Palestinian people throughout the years. The Israeli government should not need peaceful protestors to demand they think well rounded. My side only or the high way is lying…..The United States is, Israel’s yes man. Yet, it is actually, President Carter, during the 2000’s who wrote a book about Israel’s Apartheid, which must go. And of course, a Palestinian State must occur, -- West Bank of Jordan, Gaza Strip.

President Carter continued relations with China and the Soviet Union. He cancelled a B1 Bomber project and vetoed a 2 million nuclear carrier project. He also persuaded Congress to lift sanctions off of Turkey. He signed the SALT 11 treaty [Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty] in 1979.

The deregulation era pulls in. Politicians are bought by business, so look out? …1979, and now, people can home brew beer! For the first time since the 1920’s. The Airline Deregulation Act took all price controls off of the industry. Charge what you want. As already mentioned, soon, the “Fairness doctrine” for Media, that demands point counterpoint, so that both sides of an issue will be properly heard, is taken away. This has devastating results.

March of 1978, a military coup in Afghanistan occurred. Domestic disputes continued however, so the Soviet Union interfered, helping to place in as their preferred president, Babrak Rarmal. This did not stop the fighting. Afghan Troops continued to fight Mujahedi forces. The Soviet Union sent in Soviet Troops to contain this situation.

Monkey see, monkey do. If you can, I can too.

President Carter did not take this well. He cancelled the SALT 11 Treaty in reaction. He boycotted the 1980 summer Olympics to be held in the Soviet Union. U.S. athletes are not coming. He didn't want to send grain to the Soviets. The “Carter Doctrine” came about: We will make certain that the Persian Gulf stays clear and open. [This Afghan “pro Soviet” government disappeared 1992, -- well after the Soviet Union Disbanded.] And now, we are going to have a military build up, instead of a military build down, -- which had been the original plan. Mr. Carter resumed the compulsory Draft registration.

By 1979, with a presidential race already here, the Shah of Iran was deposed. In the middle east particularly, it is long understood that the people of any given country do not gladly accept no hope, no democracy, poverty will always be. Permanently bad economic conditions, the way, in Iran; the Shah was considered pro United States, is pro Western. The people in the mid east, as anyone should, blamed their leaders for their poverty, but also, whoever supported that regime. If it had been the Soviet Union who supported Iran, then Soviet Union would have been blamed. But it was the United States who supported the Shah’s rule. ………A religious Fundamentalist leader, the Ayatollah Khomeini, had been living in France for political reasons. Then a huge popular uprising occurred, a protesting revolution within Iran, to be rid of all cultural western influence, caused by an up rise in religious fundamentalism, -- is old time religion misunderstood, Muslim style; very oppressive regime in a coup de tat now. The American citizens watched this scene on television, as the protestors in Iran are holding hate U.S.A. signs and rhetoric. The Ayatollah goes home to Iran and becomes this countries Dictator. A religious [theological], State replacing the modern dressed Shah, in an Iran that is a poverty state. Poverty is actually the issue. The United States should be helping with that. As should Israel be a good neighbor, does occur to cure poverty through out the region. Then, to make matters worse for the United States, Iranian protestors seized the U.S. Embassy and took 52 American citizens as hostages, in Nov. 1979. The Iranian hostage takers said they won’t release them until you send the Shah back to Iran, -- as he was in the United States for medical treatment. …..President Carter, during the very year of his presidential re election campaign, secretly attempted to rescue the hostages. “Operation Eagle Claw”. [Iran's government is set up for true democracy, when, the Golden Rule is the Supreme Law only.]

Unfortunately, 3 of the 8 helicopters used to rescue the American hostages malfunctioned, as one collided with a C-130 Transport plane. The news reported this; and Carter is weak on Defense and Communism, was the Republican campaign song anyway.

As the United States hasn’t had an economy this bad since the Great Depression. The Federal Reserve, 1978, began to raise interest rates again to stop the housing bubble. As always occurs with this, it doesn’t stop anything; mortgage lenders merely lower the need for a good credit rating. By 1980, the interest rate in December was 21.5%! Unemployment also, in the double digit figures through out Ronald Reagan‘s first term as president. ….The middle class is now shrinking; minimum wage is left at the same low rate, along with runaway inflationary trends caused by first, the high interest rates, is why wages are technically less, simply because spending power has shrunk. Blame the President, is what the public is told to do by the opposing parties. [Blame all of them for not understanding how the economy works. Buckley’s National Review led the way; the New Republic magazine listened, although they were the liberals, and academia, economists officially stated as one‘s job, the members on the board of the Federal Reserve: a minority in academia did know fully how the economy works during the 1950‘s, but no one wrote it down.]

1979. Another Energy Crisis, caused by the Iranian Revolution, “they say”. Ronald Reagan wins the presidential election, 1980, and then afterwards, President Carter finally arranges for the Iranian hostages to be released. They were released right around the time Ronald Reagan took office. January 1981, they were released; as they had been held for 444 days.
