it's a significant accomplishment for numerous reasons -- it again demonstrates his versatility as a rider (a marked guy without a sprint like ullrich will always struggle to win road races), it's great for the sport to have its superstars racing in september, and the italians take their fall semi-classics very seriously. it's at least as impressive as winning the tour of georgia.
