I agree for any other rider. I am talking about the super-elite riders. If Tony Cruz won that race, he'd rightfully be pissing himself. If Boogerd would have pulled it out, it would have been impressive, but for Ullrich, its almost an embarrassment that he has to be racing right now in the first place.

Ullrich races about as much as Armstrong, he is just doing it in September, because his year has been such a bust. If he would have won the Tour, we wouldn't see him. Going to Italy's "Tour of Georgia" in September is not a significant accomplishment.

So many people are worn down this time of year, the variations in competition for any given race are wild. I don't disagree that he can be versatile, but let's see him show up and put down Bettini in a WC race or contend in other significant one day races like he used to.

This guy is such a buzz-kill. I was so pumped for the Tour this year and he shows up without form to challenge Armstrong. (Yes, it is all about me). And, don't give me the sick crap, he was sick last year with a weaker team and almost took it away. I think it would be cool if he won a big race again, but getting excited because of these minor results is exactly what he does close to the Tour and then he flops and we've got german fans weeping all over the place.
