As a long time LIW researcher, I applaud your effort to share accurate information about Mrs. Wilder.

However, must correct a few items:

Mary Ingalls' loss of sight was the result of a stroke brought on by a severe case of measles, not scarlet fever.

While Mrs. Wilder described the death of her son as being from a convulsion, she never recorded more than the one episode. As the child was a newborn, it's unlikely that the attending doctor would have already made a definite diagnosis of epilepsy. It may be believed by the family, and it may have been true, but it was never established. Epilepsy is not the only cause of convulsions.

Charles' fiddle is currently housed in the LIW Home and Museum in Springfield, Missouri, and can be seen by all visitors.

Lastly, while it's true that the Ingalls family relocated off, it wasn't always only due to Charles Ingalls' being "restless". Their time in the Indian Territory near Independence, Kansas was cut short by a government resolution that returned land to the Indians and forced white settlers to vacate their farms. The Ingalls family farm in Plum Creek, Minnesota was abandoned after repeated crop failures. Those factors contributed to his wanderlust.
