People do make mistakes, sometimes the best we can do is forgive them and move on, but also realize they may be inclined to make that mistake again. One of my wife's best friends is constantly "flaking out" on her - promising to do this or that and then cancelling or changing her priorities. So, she just has to accept that friend for what she can do.

Sometimes, I think people say things with good intentions but don't realize it's wishful thinking on their part.

Try not to take it personally, though. When people do these things to you, it is not because of who you are, it is because of who they are, I'm certain.

Regarding your second part - sorry if I was involved in that one, a bit. Can't tell for sure, but I let one get to me recently where I should've kept my mouth shut.

I guess this is a good reason to have plenty of friends and to keep making new ones - so one can help out when another doesn't.
