Cupid is the most famous of Valentine symbols and everybody knows that boy armed with bow and
arrows, and piercing hearts . He is known as a mischievous, winged child armed with bow and
arrows. The arrows signify desires and emotions of love, and Cupid aims those arrows at Gods and
Humans, causing them to fall deeply in love. Cupid has always played a role in the celebrations of
love and lovers. In ancient Greece he was known as Eros, the young son of Aphrodite, the goddess
of love and beauty. To the Roman's he was Cupid, and his mother was Venus.

There is a very interesting story about Cupid and His mortal Bride Psyche in Roman mythology.
Venus was jealous of the beauty of Psyche, and ordered Cupid to punish the mortal. But instead,
Cupid fell deeply in love with her. He took her as his wife, but as a mortal she was forbidden to
look at him.

Psyche was happy until her sisters persuaded her to look at Cupid. as soon as Psyche looked at
Cupid, Cupid punished her by leaving her. Their lovely castle and gardens vanished too. Psyche
found herself alone in an open field with no signs of other beings or Cupid. As she wandered trying
to find her love, she came upon the temple of Venus. Wishing to destroy her, the goddess of love
gave Psyche a series of tasks, each harder and more dangerous then the last.

For her last task Psyche was given a little box and told to take it to the underworld. She was told
to get some of the beauty of Proserpine, the wife of Pluto, and put it in the box. During her trip
she was given tips on
avoiding the dangers of the realm of the dead. She was also warned not to open the box. But
Temptation overcame Psyche and she opened the box. But instead of finding beauty, she found
deadly slumber.

Cupid found her lifeless on the ground. He gathered the deadly sleep from her body and put it
back in the box. Cupid forgave her, as did Venus. The gods, moved by Psyche's love for Cupid made
her a goddess.

Today, Cupid and his arrows have become the most popular of love signs, and love is most
frequently depicted by two hearts pierced by an arrow, Cupid's arrow.

Shh . . . wait . . . . I think I hear crickets! Awful quiet around here lately. Must've had 'em imported from somewhere far south, though, if they're still moving! Or maybe they're just rubbing their legs together to stay warm.

Mostly just wanted to let you know warm thoughts are being thunked about you, Rick. Not just today, but every day, and certainly not by me alone. Just thought I'd remind you in case you're memory is as bad as mine! I'm glad to call you friend.

Fire alert lifted in ACT Courtesy : ABC News OZ

The high fire alert for Canberra's northern suburbs has been lifted.
The Chief Minister Jon Stanhope and the chief fire control Officer Peter Lucas-Smith have completed an aerial assessment of the danger to the areas of Belconnen, Gunghalin and Hall. Emergency Services bureau chief Mike Castle says the danger has eased with an easterly wind change. "That change has come through and they've actually kept the fire within the containment lines," he said. "They haven't contained it to our north-west both those fires as I understand it, so Peter believes that the wind shift which will come through lessens that immediate bushfire threat, so that lifts that threat of bushfire in the suburban Canberra area." But the good news on the fire front has been tempered with the latest figures on property losses from the federal police. An assessment of rural areas has added another 32 houses to the tally of destruction taking the number of houses damaged by Saturday's firestorm to 451. The weather is forecast to get worse again on the weekend and the total
fire ban in the ACT has been extended to Monday.

ACT fires claim third victimcourtesy:  ABC Net News

The ACT Fires have claimed another life.
Authorities have found a 37-year-old woman in a house in the south-western Canberra suburb of Duffy. That brings to three the number of people who have died in the fires. Meanwhile, the Australian Capital Territory is bracing for a
worsening fire threat this afternoon ahead of expected north-westerly winds. Up to 400 homes have been lost, after fireballs ripped through the city's western edge yesterday. But fire-fighters are anxiously watching conditions again this afternoon. The list of Canberra landmarks lost in the fires includes almost the entire ACT soft wood plantations, the Uriara and Mount Stromlo forestry settlements, and all Canberra's public health laboratories. Australia's oldest active observatory Mt Stromlo, has been extensively damaged in the fires. Helicopter observations have revealed its handful of giant domes are either burnt to the framework or molten masses of metal.

You'll have no need to remove this *post*.

You, and others, should have by now received my message stating that I overreacted to your having misunderstood my intentions regarding the issues that prompted you to remove my messages here, and to have reacted as you have to me; and my having misunderstood how my having asked what I did of you could so adversely affect you, as it obviously has done.

Nothing harmful was ever intended, although it is obvious to me now that I have hurt you deeply.

I'm truly sorry for that, and hope that my actions will not prompt you to hesitate, when your heart says not to, regarding those of others you may have yet to encounter.

Mother's Footsteps

It was a busy day in our home. But then, with 6 children and one on the way, every day was a bit hectic. On this particular day, however, I was having trouble doing even routine chores -- all because of one little boy. Len, who was three at the time, was on my heels no matter where I went. Whenever I stopped to do something and turned back around, I would trip over him. Several times, I patiently suggested fun activities to keep him occupied. "Wouldn't you like to play on the swing set?" I asked again.

But he simply smiled an innocent smile and said, "Oh, that's all right Mommy. I'd rather be in here with you." Then he continued to bounce happily along behind me.

After stepping on his toes for the fifth time, I began to lose my patience and insisted that he go outside and play with the other children. When I asked him why he was acting this way, he looked up at me with sweet green eyes and said,
"Well, Mommy, in Sunday class my teacher told me to walk in Jesus' footsteps. But I can't see him, so I'm walking in yours."

I gathered Len in my arms and held him close. Tears of love and humility spilled over from the prayer that grew in my heart -- a prayer of thanks for the simple, yet beautiful perspective of a three-year-old boy.

TOBY KEITH LYRICS

Santa I'm Right Here
(Ron Reynolds)

I was downtown Christmas shopping
Such a busy city street
I don't know how I noticed the piece of paper at my feet
But somethin' made me pick it up, instead of goin' on my way
I stopped and froze right in my tracks
As I read what it had to say

Oh Santa, if you can't find me
We're livin' out here on the street
But I’ll be watchin' for you, you're not gonna forget me, are you
Daddy says he knows you'll try
But we might be too hard to find this year
Oh Santa, I’m right here

It said, we don't have our house no more, I wish we could go home
Mama says we will some day and she prays it won't be long
But they closed daddy's factory and took most of our things
Now Santa, I don't need to much, so this year could you bring

Bring my mom a coat that's warm, 'cause the one she's got is awful torn
Maybe dad could help you work, makin' toys for boys and girls

Oh Santa, if you can't find me
We're livin' out here on the street
But I’ll be watchin' for you, you're not gonna forget me, are you
Daddy says he knows you'll try
But we might be too hard to find this year
Oh Santa, I’m right here

I'm right here
I'm right here

I think this song reminds us that there are people out there that are worse off then we are .. So when you thinking you got it bad and are down on yourself ..just think of this song and I think it will help you to thanks God for what you got ..

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year ..
Thanks to all of you who stop by here and post something or for those who just said hi ..

Subject: SANTA'S SECRET WISH

Author:
Rick
[ Edit | View ]

Date Posted: 19:53:22 12/15/02 Sun

On Christmas Eve,
a young boy with light in his eyes,
Looked deep into Santa's, to Santa's surprise,
And said as he nestled on Santa's broad knee,
"I want your secret, tell it to me."

He leaned up & whispered in Santa's good ear,
"How do you do it, year after year?"
"I want to know how, as you travel about,
Giving gifts here & there, you never run out.

How is it, dear Santa, that in your pack of toys,
You have plenty for all of the world's girls & boys?
Stays so full, never empties as you make your way
From rooftop to rooftop, to homes large & small,

From nation to nation, reaching them all?
And Santa smiled kindly & said to the boy,
"Don't ask me hard questions.
Don't you want a toy?"

But the child shook his head, and Santa could see
That he needed the answer. "Now listen to me,"
He told the small boy with the light in his eyes,
"My secret will make you sadder & wise.

"The truth is that my sack is magic. Inside
It holds millions of toys for my Christmas Eve ride.
But although I do visit each girl & each boy
I don't always leave them a gaily wrapped toy.

Some homes are hungry, some homes are sad.
Some homes are desperate, some homes are bad.
Some homes are broken, & children there grieve.
Those homes I visit, but what should I leave?

"My sleigh is filled with the happiest stuff,
But for homes where despair lives,
toys aren't enough.
So I tiptoe in, kiss each girl & boy,
And pray with them that they'll be given the joy

Of the spirit of Christmas, the spirit that lives
In the heart of the dear child who gets not,
but gives.
If only God hears me & answers my prayer,
When I visit next year, what I will find there

Are homes filled with peace,
and with giving, and love
And boys and girls gifted with light from above.
It's a very had task, my smart little brother,
To give toys to some,
and to give prayers to others.

But the prayers are the best gifts,
the best gifts indeed,
For God has a way of meeting each need.
"That's part of the answer.
The rest, my dear youth,
Is that my sack is magic, And that is the truth.

In my sack I carry on Christmas Eve day
More love than a Santa could e'er give away.
The sack never empties of love, or of joys
'Cause inside it are prayers, and hopes.
Not just toys.

The more that I give, the fuller it seems,
Because giving is my way of fulfilling dreams.
"And do you know something?
You've got a sack, too.
It's as magic as mine, and it's inside of you.

It never gets empty, it's full from the start.
It's the centre of lights, and of love. It's your heart.
And if on this Christmas you want to help me,
Don't be so concerned with your gifts
'neath your tree.

Open that sack, call your heart, & share
Your joy, your friendship, your wealth, your care."
The light in the small boy's eyes was glowing.
"Thanks for the secret. I've got to be going."

"Wait, little boy," said Santa "don't go.
Will you share? Will you help?
Will you use what you know?"
And just for a moment the small boy stood still,
Touched his heart with his small hand & whispered,

"I will."

Those Who Love You

If anyone should hurt you
And say a thing unkind,
Remember what I tell you,
And keep these things in mind.

For every one who makes you cry,
There are three who make you smile,
And a smile will last a long, long time,
But a tear just a little while!

If someone says a thing that's cruel,
Don't let it get to you,
There's so much good about you,
And your faults are very few.

So if a certain someone
Should act a certain way,
Just think of those who love you
And don't let it ruin your day.

Don't let someone who hates the world
Cause you to hate it too,
For behind the clouds is a golden sun,
And a sky that's bright and blue!

Message from Santa

Dear Friends

I have been watching you very closely to see if you have been
good this year and since you have I will be telling my elves to
make some goodies for me to leave under your tree at Christmas.
I was going to bring you all gifts from the 12 days of
Christmas, but we had a little problem.

The 12 fiddlers fiddling have all come down with VD from fiddling
with the 10 ladies dancing,
the 11 lords leaping have knocked up the 8 maids a-milking, and
the 9 pipers piping have been arrested for doing weird things to
the 7 swans a-swimming.
The 6 geese a-laying, 4 calling birds, 3 French hens, 2 turtle
doves and the partridge in a pear tree
have me up to my sled runners in bird shit.

On top of all this!
Mrs. Claus is going through menopause, 8 of my reindeer are in
heat, the elves have joined the gay liberation and some people
who can't read a calendar have scheduled Christmas for the 5th
of January.

Maybe next year I will be able to get my shit together and bring
you the things you want.
This year I suggest you get your asses down to Wal-Mart before
everything is gone.

Love,

Santa.

Beautiful dreamer, wake unto me,
Starlight and dewdrops are waiting for thee;
Sounds of the rude world heard in the day,
Lull'd by the moonlight have all pass'd away!

Beautiful dreamer, queen of my song,
List while I woo thee with soft melody;
Gone are the cares of life's busy throng,
Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!

Beautiful dreamer, out on the sea
Mermaids are chaunting the wild lorelie;
Over the streamlet vapors are borne,
Waiting to fade at the bright coming morn.

Beautiful dreamer, beam on my heart,
E'en as the morn on the streamlet and sea;
Then will all clouds of sorrow depart,
Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!

One night I dreamed I was walking
Along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints.
Other times there were one set of footprints.
This bothered me because I noticed that
During the low periods of my life when I was
Suffering from anguish, sorrow, or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints,
So I said to the Lord, "You promised me,
Lord, that if I followed You,
You would walk with me always.
But I noticed that during the most trying periods
Of my life there have only been
One set of prints in the sand.
Why, When I have needed You most,
You have not been there for me?"
The Lord replied,
"The times when you have seen only one set of footprints
Is when I carried you."

The young man was at the end of his rope.
Seeing no way out, he dropped to his knees in prayer. "Lord, I can't go on," he said.
"I have too heavy a cross to bear."

The Lord replied, "My son, if you can't bear it's weight, just place your cross inside this room.
Then open another door and pick any cross you wish."

The man was filled with relief. "Thank you, Lord," he sighed, and did as he was told.

As he looked around the room he saw many different crosses; some so large the tops were not visible. Then he spotted a tiny cross leaning against a far wall.

"I'd like that one, Lord," he whispered. And the Lord replied, "My son, that's the cross you brought in."

I was made weak that I might learn to humbly obey .

I asked for help that I might do greater things .
I was given infirimity that I might do better things .

I asked for riches that I might be happy .
I was given poverty that I might be wise .

I asked for all things that I might enjoy life .
I was given life that I might enjoy all things .

I got nothing that I asked for ,

Never underestimate the power of your actions. With one small gesture you can change a person's life. For better or for worse. God puts us all in each other's lives to impact one another in some way. Look for God in others.

Eleanor Roosevelt wrote: Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart. To handle yourself, use your head; to handle others, use your heart. Anger is only one letter short of danger. If someone betrays you once, it is his fault; if he betrays you twice, it is your fault.

Subject: The Weathered Old Barn

A stranger came by the other day with an offer that set me to
thinking. He wanted to buy the old barn that sits out by the
highway. I told him right off he was crazy. He was a city type,
you could tell by his clothes, his car, his hands, and the way he
talked. He said he was driving by and saw that beautiful barn
sitting out in the tall grass and wanted to know if it was for sale.
I told him he had a funny idea of beauty.

Sure, it was a handsome building in its day. But then, there's
been a lot of winters pass with their snow and ice and howling
wind. The summer sun's beat down on that old barn till all the
paint's gone, and the wood has turned silver gray. Now the old
building leans a good deal, looking kind of tired. Yet, that fellow
called it beautiful.

That set me to thinking. I walked out to the field and just stood
there, gazing at that old barn. The stranger said he planned to
use the lumber to line the walls of his den in a new country home
he's building down the road. He said you couldn't get paint that
beautiful. Only years of standing in the weather, bearing the
storms and scorching sun, only that can produce beautiful barn
wood.

It came to me then. We're a lot like that, you and I. Only it's on
the inside that the beauty grows with us. Sure we turn silver
gray too... and lean a bit more than we did when we were young
and full of sap. But the Good Lord knows what He's doing. And as
the years pass He's busy using the hard wealth of our lives, the
dry spells and the stormy seasons, to do a job of beautifying
our souls that nothing else can produce. And to think how often
folks holler because they want life easy!

They took the old barn down today and hauled it away to
beautify a rich man's house. And I reckon someday you and I'll
be hauled off to Heaven to take on whatever chores the Good
Lord has for us on the Great Sky Ranch.

And I suspect we'll be more beautiful then for the seasons we've
been through here... and just maybe even add a bit of beauty to
our Father's house.

May today there be peace within you.

May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to
be.

"I believe that friends are quiet angels who lift us to our feet
when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly.

Bullying is a serious problem and it is common in some schools. It can have a lasting and devastating effect on both the victim and the bully. If you or someone you know is being bullied , it's important to tell someone.Bullying has no place in a safe school. You can help by talking about bullying to a trusted adult or a friend if it is happening around you.

Typically, bullying is repeated, cruel behaviour where the bully exercises some kind of power over the victim. Physical bullying includes hitting, kicking or punching or
destruction of personal property. It is the most basic type of bullying and can be very dangerous. Verbal bullying is when the bully uses words to harm or intimidate the victim. Name calling, insults, racist or sexist remarks, threats and constant teasing are all common types of bullying.

This can be the easiest to inflect and, although not visible on the surface, it can leave terrible emotional scars.

Bullies act the way they do for a number of reasons , sometimes to make themselves feel tough or in charge, or to make themselves feel popular. They might be jealous of the person they are bullying. In many cases, the bully has been bullied himself. Sometimes young people are bullied because they are different in some way. The colour of their skin, their name, their size,or the way they walk can make them targets.

If you are being bullied, remember that you don't have to put up with it. You can seek help. Talking to someone doesn't mean you've being a " rat " or a " snitch ". Bullying is unacceptable, and it must be stopped. Find someone you can trust, and talk to them. If you find it difficult to talk, write it down and give it to them.

You can also try to ignore the bully, or use humour to defuse the situation. Avoid fear and anger, the bully thrives on these emotions. Remember that bullies generally have low self-esteem problems and tend to bother
everyone.Understand that you are not the problem, the bully is.It's also important to stop bulling whenever you witness it. Support the person being bullied and never give a bully positive reinforcement.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scare heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead.Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Your presence is a gift to the world,
You're unique and one of a kind.
Your life can be what you want it to be -
Take it one day at a time.

Count your blessings, not your troubles,
And you'll make it through what comes along.
Within you are so many answers,
Understand, have courage, be strong.

Don't put limits on yourself,
Your dreams are waiting to be realized.
Don't leave your important decisions to chance -
Reach for your peak, your goal, and your prize.

Nothing wastes more energy than worrying -
The longer a problem is carried, the heavier it gets.
Don't take things too seriously -
Live a life of serenity, not a life of regrets.

Remember that a little love goes a long way -
Remember that a lot goes forever.
Remember that friendship is a wise investment,
Life's treasures are people... together.

Have health and hope and happiness,
Take the time to wish on a star.
And don't ever forget for even a day...
How very special YOU are!

The cop says, "What? A rectum stretcher?"
The guy says, "Yeah. I start with a finger, then
work my way up to two fingers... eventually I get a hand in, then both

The cop asks, "What the hell do you do with a six-foot asshole?"
"Well, you give him a radar gun and park him at the

It was a cold wet day and I was walking home from town when I saw two boys from school . They were walking toward me and I didn't think anything about it until they got in line with me ..That is when I heard they say them words " there that fag " and then they jump me .. I try to fight but they were bigger and stronger then me .. So I let them beat me and they did , my face and side hurt really bad ..I don't know how long they beat on me but when I got up it was dark .I think I sat there for about another hour or so before I could get up and go home .

When I got home no one was there , so I went to my dad gun cabinet and took out one of his rifle . I got three shells for it and turn around and left . I walk back to the woods and plan what I was going to do . I had it all figure out , all I had to do was decide when to do it .. I sat there and pick up the rifle and loaded the shells into it .I rested it on my knee and pointed it toward my chest now all I had to do was to pull the trigger .

I was so tired of all the shit and hate toward me ..I just had enough of being hurt and pick on . All I wanted was for it to all stop and this would do it and no one would miss me .. I try really hard to find some reason not do to do it but I couldn't . Until I heard a noise to the right of me and there standing there was my friend .. He came closer to me and when he saw the rifle on my knee , he stop and just looked at me . He told me that if I was going to do it ..I better have one for him too because we were in this together . I look at the rifle and pick it up and throught it away from me ..He came over and sat down beside me and told me how he found where I was and why .

He help me that night and alot of nights after that , he still does ..but I miss him bad and I will always .. So thanks my friend ..Someday we will meet again ..

Well guys , I hope you are not mad at me for writing this but I thought it was time for more writing and setting things straight .. This is a part of my past and that is where it will stay ..never again will I let people or anything take me to this point because I know better now ..

Take care ...

Just a Thought

Sometimes in life, you find a special person, Someone who changes your life just by being part of it,
Someone who makes you laugh, until you can't stop.
Someone who makes you believe, that there really is good in the world,
Someone who convinces you, that there really is an unlocked door waiting for you to open it,
Many people will walk in and out of your life, But only true friends will leave footprints in your heart. And this is LOVE,
It hurts to love someone and not be loved in return, but what is the most painful is to love someone and never finding the courage to let the person know how you feel.
"NEVER SAY I LOVE YOU IF YOU REALLY DONT CARE,
NEVER TALK ABOUT FEELINGS IF THEY AREN'T REALLY THERE,
NEVER HOLD MY HAND IF YOU ARE GOING TO BREAK MY HEART,
NEVER LOOK INTO MY EYES IF ALL YOU DO IS LIE,
NEVER TOUCH A LIFE IF YOU MEAN TO BREAK... BECAUSE I AM ALREADY ALONE".

" REMEMBER THIS IS JUST A THOUGHT "
and plus I had to write something here .. :))

I've learned-
that it's taking me a long time
to become the person I want to be.

I've learned-
that you should always leave loved ones
with loving words. It may be the last
time you see them.

I've learned-
that you can keep going
long after you can't.

I've learned-
that we are responsible for what we do,
no matter how we feel.

I've learned-
that either you control your attitude
or it controls you.

I've learned-
that regardless of how hot and
steamy a relationship is at first,
the passion fades and there had
better be something else to take
its place.

I've learned-
that heroes are the people
who do what has to be done
when it needs to be done,
regardless of the consequences.

I've learned-
that money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I've learned-
that my best friend and I can do anything
or nothing and have the best time.

I've learned-
that sometimes the people you expect
to kick you when you're down
will be the ones to help you get back up.

I've learned-
that sometimes when I'm angry
I have the right to be angry,
but that doesn't give me
the right to be cruel.

I've learned-
that true friendship continues to grow,
even over the longest distance.
Same goes for true love.

I've learned-
that just because someone doesn't love
you the way you want them to doesn't
mean they don't love you with all they have.

I've learned-
that maturity has more to do with
what types of experiences you've had
and what you've learned from them
and less to do with how many
birthdays you've celebrated.

I've learned-
that your family won't always be
there for you. It may seem funny,
but people you aren't related to
can take care of you and love you
and teach you to trust people again.
Families aren't necessarily biological.

I've learned-
that no matter how good a friend is,
they're going to hurt you every
once in a while and you must forgive
them for that.

I've learned-
that it isn't always enough to be
forgiven by others. Sometimes you
have to learn to forgive yourself.

I've learned-
that no matter how bad your heart is broken
the world doesn't stop for your grief.

I've learned-
that our background and circumstances
may have influenced who we are,
but we are responsible for who we become.

I've learned-
that just because two people argue,
it doesn't mean they don't love each other
And just because they don't argue,
it doesn't mean they do.

I've learned-
that we don't have to change friends
if we understand that friends change.

I've learned-
that you shouldn't be so eager to find out
a secret. It could change your life forever.

I've learned-
that two people can look at the exact
same thing and see something totally
different.

I've learned-
that your life can be changed in a matter of
hours by people who don't even know you.

I've learned-
that even when you think you have no more
to give, when a friend cries out to you,
you will find the strength to help.

I've learned-
that credentials on the wall
do not make you a decent human being.

I've learned-
that the people you care about most in life
are taken from you too soon.

Why does people judge other people when they don't know them or what they are like ??? I am sorry but this have been bothering me now for a few days ..I have been call alot of things in my life but this was the first time for this ..

"Your friends - if they are really friends - have let you down. At the very moment when they should have been cheering you on to a new start in life, when they should have been encouraging you for all they were worth to take the bull by the horns and "get a life" - at that moment some of them revealed how selfish they are. Some of them have sucked from you every ounce of love that you could give them, and when the time came to give you back some of that love they started complaining that you were forsaking them, that you weren't giving them enough time."

I never thought of myself as being selfish or that I had use someone just for my own good .. I have always thought and put others before myself ..maybe this is why this hurt me so much .. But this was send to me by someone I didn't even know so how could they come to this ?? So why try to do the right thing if others believe that you are a bad person before they get to know you ??

I didn't ask these questions to hurt anyone .. or am I mad at anyone but just trying to find out why .. and also maybe understand better ..

The woman stands there shaken for a moment, and then exclaims,
"HOLY SHIT, IT WORKS!!!
