We're on a small island on Puget Sound - about 15 miles or so across - with two large lakes on it, and near the edge of one lake - smaller for fishing. Down the road two blocks is public access to the larger lake, which is good for swimming but also has water skiers etc.

Tonight the kids and their cousins and I went swimming. It was raining all day and fairly cold, but the water was relatively warm. We were there until it started getting dark and fog was forming on the water because it was warmer than the air. There are deer all over here - up on the lawns and such - and several came down to the water while we were swimming.

I made some blackberry cobbler late tonight. Blackberries grow wild everywhere in western Washington and are almost a noxious weed. The kids picked a huge bowl of them, so I whipped up a cobbler but made up the recipe, so I'll tell you if it's any good. Will probably be to sweet or sour, thin or thick, and the crust is pancake mix so it will be fluffy like biscuits, but we'll certainly enjoy it anyway.

Well, just wanted to stop by to say hi and I haven't forgotten my friends here! The cell phone seems to (barely) work and I can get Internet through that. No phone or CATV or such here, but a nice big house.
