Subject: With greater liberty comes greater responsibility

Ok, some of the things I've seen as of late with the ruling

of Stonehaven have left me worried. I had hoped that by

giving players more 'Immlike' abilities and more control

over the game that they would then use the greater powers

given to them in a responsible way that would benefit the

MUD as a whole.

But I can see quite a bit of twinkishness that's been going

on and basicly a sour turn for the game as a whole.

Before, most players that were given high ranking powers

were limited in their positions to keep in mind that

we're trying to keep players, not scare them away.

Whenever I brought in a centurion who had control over

all the guards of a city I made sure they remembered that

they shouldn't use their power to scare away newbies and

they should make the game a fun place to be. Sorl could've

gone around executing every twinkish newbie that came

into the game. And there are plenty coming in every day.

But instead he tended to at least give them a fighting

chance or repremanded them in other twisted ways.

And city leaders need to keep in mind the consequences

to the MUD of their actions. If one leader controls both

cities..then what? There's the end of the conflict. Or

what happens if you leave your city empty of soldiers

while you go out and attack another city? Would any sane

leader actually do this?

This is your MUD, do you want it to be a hack n slash

where reality isn't taken into account? I'm not one to

step in and change politics or anything like that just

because I don't like the people that are running things

no matter how abusive they may seem. I would hope that

the players would see these things and take it upon

themselves to change things. All I can do is make sure

that those abusive players never get exposed to the

rewards that come later on with demonstrating their good

role-playing abilities. Perhaps I will need to limit

the order commands and such to those players with higher

RP. Because right now all I see is abuse. I hope this

changes soon.
